Looking to see if anyone has had experience with this.

During the last snow storm a tree limb hit my passenger side mirror and cracked the housing. In looking up my VIN for what part replaces it, Sparks said it was 87910-0C213. However this said it was without auto dimming but with memory. This is what I ordered.

I’m thinking now it’s 87910-0C203 which says with auto dimming but without memory.

I definitely have auto dimming and when I select the memory button the mirrors change as well. But I can’t find one that has both and that’s what someone else said on this forum.

Anyone have experience with this or any ideas? Can I take my glass (it’s fine) out of my original mirror and put it in the one I ordered? Will it be wired for auto dimming?

Update on what I found. The 87910-0C213 came in today and I took the glass off. I also took the glass off my original one and they both had the same wires and connections. And one being what I thought was auto dim. So I installed it and everything seems to work just fine! So the “without auto dim” per Toyota does not seem correct.

Also, I ordered the equivalent from 1A Auto and although the build quality seemed good there were two major differences that I couldn’t get over.

    1) the plastic trim around the glass of the 1A Auto was very thin. It looked ok, but if you looked at the drivers side you would be able to see they weren’t the same.

    2) I have LED puddle lights and when I took the puddle light out of the 1A Auto assembly, the puddle light did not have OEM connections. Instead it had a harness that ran up and plugged into the main harness.

If I was replacing both mirrors, the 1A Auto would be fine, but the do not match OEM.

The worst part of all of this is that the new mirror closes and opens much faster than my drivers side. That’s going to bug me and might make me buy a drivers side just because.

    Thanks for this!

Second your opinion on the 1A Auto. Mine had very flimsy construction. The glass shakes a bit when i am running on washboard etc. Agree that if replaced both, might be OK, but honestly I wasn't impressed by the 1A Auto quality.
That said $500 for a freakin mirror (OEM) is ridiculous!!

Hello, You mentioned you replaced the glass in your side mirror. Did you have to heat up the glass before prying upwards to disengage the glass from the mount? Thank you.

No, the glass comes with the plastic on the back that snaps into the mirror housing.

Take a large flat plastic tool, I used the largest tool from a trim tool set for cars, and put it under the mirror. Push up and it should pop off the clips.

I did watch the Tundra one in particular. Just making sure before I pry on glass. I think to remove the mirror from the plastic backing, you'll need heat.
    Thanks again for your help.

Yeah, I didn’t do that. Just removed the glass from the mirror housing.
The replacement glass should come with that plastic backing.

Let me know how/what works for you.

I attempted to remove my mirror glass ~6mos back and finally had to throw in the towel before I broke something... Like the fairly beefy BBQ spatula I was convinced would get the job done.

I'm hoping you have some kind of awesome tip from your experience, as I really would like to get the puddle lights off my shelf and on the truck.

    Best of luck to you!

As far as getting the OEM mirror out. Thats not too bad. I used 2 plastic pry tools to push up from the bottom.
It eventually pops off. From there you'll have room to drill your hole to mount the puddle lights up.

Well thanks for shattering my ego ;)

Mine was difficult enough to remain unaccomplished. Maybe I'll go searching for something more specific than kitchen tools

The video above shows the guy removing the mirrors without any tools.
If you pry up firmly either side of center a little at time, they'll pop off.

This $2 metal squaring tool was the key to success for me. I can’t take credit for it, another YouTube video showed using it.

The tool’s thickness was just right, and the metal was very strong, making this the ultimate tool for the job.

    Thanks for the tip!

I used my little, composite speed square and deflection/cracking sounds ensued. I shall try again with the cheapo aluminum feller you suggest. Maybe some plastic trim removal tools to break as well.

Hopefully one day I will update things with my vled puddle lights.

It wasn’t as easy as the video showed for me either. I actually thought I broke my mirror at first but somehow I didn’t but did manage to remove the part it mounts to when I took the first glass off

Good news is I found some heated mirror glass replacement for $30 for a set if I ever decide to remove them again for anything and do manage to break them

I would add that if you have auto dimming mirrors, and are removing them to update the puddle lights (ie not replacing the mirrors) there may be a risk of damaging the mirror.

The reason I had to remove mine was because I had placed a blind spot mirror on. I later decided that I wanted the mirror in a different spot. When I tried to pry the blind spot mirror off, it caused the gel to leak out of the mirror. I previously had no idea that the mirrors were gel filled. The mirror became blurry, and I had to replace.

Oh, and that gel left a stain on my paint too.

I will look out for this as I definitely plan to reuse the mirrors. Though I don't believe my side mirrors are fancy auto-dim, only the interior seems to have this.

Last time I gave up on this I told myself I would get some replacement mirrors JIC. I haven't.

If it helps, the auto dim mirrors will have a bluish tint to them. Mine is an 07 Limited.

I just got done fiddling with the passenger side on mine. Mirror wouldn't come off. It was cracked and had a replacement ready. Mirror would not come off until I got monstrous with it. Someone at some point had replaced the entire rear view housing with an aftermarket unit. Also explains why the new mirror cap wouldn't fit.

Were you able to replace the mirror with the piece you had?
