I have a set of 1794 LE Fox shocks on my '24 Limited and am doing some work on the truck and need to remove the shocks to do a slight spacer lift.

I see a lot of shock tools that indicate they fit GM trucks - but have also seen some threads here that indicate that tool is a bit loose on the Tundra shocks.

Can anyone suggest the proper tool to hold the top of the shock rod while turning the top nut so it doesn't spin?

I know I "can" put some hose around it and use some vice grips but that always seems to result in mangling it and I'd prefer to keep it clean.

Does the shaft not have an allen key head on it?

Nope. It's similar in shape to the GM ones. Rounded on two sides, flat on the others.

8 or 10mm box wrench will hold the shaft in place.

Or a crescent wrench?, What do you do once the nut is covering the threads?

Once it gets broken loose you dont need to hold the top anymore, spray some pb blaster or something else on those threads since they look a little rusty

Thanks - I'll try the box wrench. In the past when I've tried that I still ended up mangling the top. On my tacoma I sourced a <$10 tool that fit perfectly and made taking the shocks off a breeze. Was hoping there was something similar for this application, but will do what I can with what I have!

Use same method with hose and vise grip, push boot that covers shaft up high enough to expose shaft then hold shaft with vise grip hose method as depicted in similar pic below.

Vice grips, break loose, if it still spins then lightly clamp the shock shaft which is hardened steel and should be fine.
