There's a thread from 2019 on "Key stuck in ignition" but it seemed like a new thread was appropriate because of the age of the post. Basically there's an interlock which is intended to prevent key removal unless the truck is in park. For 2011 (and maybe others), Toyota published a TSB describing the problem and its repair, but didn't make it a separate warranty repair. Needless to say, my truck's long out of warranty. Out of warranty it looks to be a pretty expensive repair. In any event, it's become a losing crap shoot as to IF the key will turn past ACC and allow me to remove it. Today I took 30 minutes and disconnected the interlock. Is there any real reason not to declare success and move on? Certainly when I was a kid, no such interlocks existed.

If there is a TSB open for it, I'd suggest you print it out, call corporate and take it in to the dealership in that order... Corporate will usually back you up with a call ahead of time... My window switch went out and was replaced for free in 2016, my truck is a 2007 but I took the TSB in for them to see, after some push back and a call to corporate they repaired it for free...
