My buddy and I installed the new Ursa Minor Rack from Sherpa Equipment last night, and I have to say I am very pleased with the fit, and the quality of the rack. It's always a little nerve racking drilling holes into a perfectly good roof, but after the first hole it doesn't hurt so much ;)

Hi Jon, this is a very nice rig. How is it holding up so far? Any leaks?

Thanks! No leaks, and while it’s been dry the last week or two we did have some solid rain not too long ago. So far so good! I’m very happy with it, and it feels super solid. I think I’m going to add some lights to the sides with the Sherpa mounts soon.

I don’t have a build thread, but it’s a MITS Alloy tray and canopy. I love it!

Thank you for the intel Jon. That helps a lot. I keep admiring your rig - makes me more confident to continue with my build. The self doubts about spending money on an older platform keep creeping in, but seeing what you've done changed that perspective for me.

I hear you on the older platform. My truck has 330k on it, but still runs great. I have accepted the fact I’ll never sell it, so I’ll keep making mods to improve it.

I have one on the girlfriends Sequoia, and the fit and finish is perfect. It’s a little on the heavy side, but compared to the Prinsu’s it’s solid. Prinsu’s are fairly thin.

Just someone needs to make one for the Double Cabs :frusty:

I don’t really have any good pics

Hi Jon, I just got my URSA MINOR rack and I keep doubting the strength of the 3/16 blind rivets that attach spacers to the roof.

What are your thoughts on the strength of this assembly?

I know some of these have a decent strength rating ( example: https://www.mcmaster.com/97525A522/ ), but I wish it were something beefier. There is probably a reason why they chose 3/16, but I can't figure that out until I pull the headliner.

Honestly, I had the same concerns but once we got it installed it is really solid.

I have their Crow's Nest rack over my cap and I like it so far. I don't think they make the 8ft version though, but it's worth to check with them.

I could use a rack like that. To cover all the fading paint on my roof.
