    hi all,

I recently bought a new to me 17' off road. when I test drove the brakes had some shake, so I told them to replace the pads and rotors before I pick it up. Well, they replaced the pads but just refinished the rotors, which I have never heard of. Any way two months later the shake is back and worse than before but only really happens at highway speeds (45ish and faster). Is this my rotors again? If so, do anyone have any new rotor/pad recommendations? I've heard of the big brake kit but never looked much into it. is this something worth doing if all I do is tow a bass boat.

Also is this common in tundra's? two other guys I work with drive the same model tundra's and when I've rode with them in the past theirs is shaky as well, just not near as bad as mine. Didn't know if maybe the stock brake setup is too small for this size truck.

    Thanks!

The rotors on these shouldn't be "turned" or resurfaced or refinished or whatever if they are shaking, only for deep grooves and even then I would just replace. If they are warped, they are warped. Replace with new. Resurfacing makes them thinner and more susceptible to warping from heat. Big brake kits come with really great reviews, but boy are they spendy. Like $5-6k spendy. OEM rotors with OEM or upgraded pads is what most do. Upgraded pads usually bite better than OEM, but shed a lot of dust.
