I’ve been reading post and I’m not understanding the shackles on the truck. What do they do ? I’m new to all this. Any help would be great. Also what is the driver and passenger side shims what are those. I’m going with 6112 at top setting is that 2.5 if lift ?

Shackles are one of a few items that raise the rear height of your truck.
Shims are items that you use to raise your front end a little bit, they come in various thicknesses.
Good choice on the 6112 shocks. That is my plan once I complete my chrome delete project. Many members use the 1.9 setting on the 6112s (to avoid max preload) and use a shim to get the 2.5 lift on the front of the truck.
Use the search button on this forum and you will see a lot of great builds and advice relating to your questions.

This is my coachbuilder shackles. It helps level the rear depends on your front lift. But most importantly it helps your ride more firm and less bed bounce.

1.9” would be the highest you’d want to go to avoid being nose high.

Ok if I did 1.9 setting up front will I have a rake ? I’m not a fan of rake personally.

I did 1.9” and ended up exactly level. But, anytime I had weight in the bed I was nose high. I added coachbuilder +2 shackles.

I had the $60 Ebay lift shackles set at 2inchs for 80k miles and no problems Full loads of firewood to the max, ATVs, snowmobiles these work like a charm for $60 Just as good as OEM.
