I have a full-size pew pew and attempted to give it a secure location in the center console and make it accessible enough through the quick access slide. I don't want to have it near my knee in a driving position (may have a rubber band go off). Anyone care to share how they installed their rubber band pew pew?

Why? You're not leaving it in the truck and stepping away, are you? Because that sounds like a bad idea. Pewpew belongs where it was in the first place before you took it out to put it in the center console.

Check the build link in my signature.
I don’t know what the gen3 console looks like inside, but in my Gen 2 I had attached a panel of lip fabric to the inside side of it and then attached a maxpedition velcro holster to it. Made it easy to transition from my IWB to the console and then back.

Easier if you don’t try asking in code. There are dozens of threads on here about firearm storage and transportation, in the console or on the driver’s side of the center shifter area. Maybe search around and, if you don’t find what you need, let us know more specifically what you’re wanting to do.

There's an entire subforum dedicated to guns, not at all sensitive. The only thing sensitive is dissing Military/LEO and talking politics from the best I can tell. Hell they don't even censor the word fuck, it's awesome :D

Roger....some forums are super sensitive to "firearms", etc. and the admins could have an issue.....but it IS a truck forum. I will search around the forums but my question is specific to the Gen 3 center console. I want to avoid lift the center console lid if possible and use the quick access panel, the removal plastic divider that is immediately below the access panel is the most logical place...just wondering about suggestions.

Unfamiliar with 3rd gen as well but I agree its best kept where you keep it.
What I do is use a drop leg holster if I know Ill be in and out of the truck a bunch or on long drives. Keeps it on my person but out of my spine, hip, or stomach when I'm seated

@Buellride, guns aren't a touchy subject here. As long as you aren't talking about doing stupid/unsafe or illegal crap. That will get you some unwanted attention and, depending on what you are doing, a timeout of varying lengths.
That said, when looking at making modifications, don't forget to look up laws for your state. Non-OEM hidden compartments may be illegal (generally for drug trafficking, but an uptight officer/prosecutor may try to reach).
I installed a console safe in a truck and mounted a holster to the side of it to have relatively easy access and an out of site and secure spot for when the owner goes somewhere and has to leave the pistol behind.

No joke- in my old truck I put an old ratty looking diaper on top in the center console. It was totally clean, but I knew any valet, mechanic, etc. that opened that thing up would close it right back up. Under that diaper were a few things that probably would have been lifted over the years if someone went looking for them. Leatherman's, lights, etc..

Love the new lock box on the '22.

It is funny how many of you only consider having 1 accessible firearm available.

Always one on me, but it is nice to have spares.
    Different tools for different situations..

To the OP, is a G17 with 2 spare mags full size enough?
Although this may not fit in your half console vault of your 2022.

What holster do you have for your G17 on the right? I like that minimalist trigger guard style!

Yes, it is just a trigger guard.
Held in with a small rope secured to the magnet.
Stays in place as you draw the firearm, if needed...

    phtm3vgs_zpsnqwovupw_e2740a938281b2c0ee9aa1b3cb84b6412144305d.jpg 10qur0f9_zps4aarmv8x_df5c19c1f809d8496a7e22e66a10008fa1f8ecad.jpg

You'll find several on Amazon, they are all pretty much the same thing, molded Kydex with a rope attached..

Drawing from, concealing, conveying, etc. in the center console has never really made sense to me. The delay in accessing the weapon makes that a no-go for me, and a center console doesn't secure the weapon it merely hides it from plain sight. Although, if you have to store it in the vehicle for some reason, I agree w/the safe/console vault concept.

With that being said, ideally, you want the weapon on you (both in and out of the vehicle); this way your access/draw remains consistent in the event of an immediate imminent threat. Also, there is no risk of someone breaking into the vehicle and stealing the gun. However, as we age, most of us are no longer sporting a 32 waist; so, I understand the discomfort in maintaining it concealed on your person (in a seated position) for an extended duration, especially for those of us that appendix carry a full size weapon.

My solution is this... If my commute is short distance, the weapon stays put (on my person in and out of the vehicle). Yeah, it pokes here and there a little (especially when first sitting down), but those 'hot spots' quickly become unnoticeable and you kinda find a niche' for it. If I'm going to be in the vehicle for a duration and don't want it pinned to my waste, I'll transfer the weapon to a holster I have mounted in the vehicle and then transfer it back to my waist prior to exiting the vehicle.

My mounting set up is the MMP (Multi Mount Panel) specifically for the Tundra by Desert Does It (the original seat jacker dudes)...

The MMP mounts to the front driver's or passenger's seat using the 2 front seat bolts. Their products are well made and have a nice black powder coat finish. Hardware bolts are grade stamped where appropriate. Anyhow once this is mounted to your front seat, you can install most molle or belt clip style holsters to the mount. I don't transition the holster back and forth just the weapon. Also, they have an optional clock-able extension, which allows you to elevate your mounting position and change angle of how your holster mounts to increase system flexibility.

This allows you to adjust the position of the holster to give you easy access to your weapon and a natural and familiar draw angle.

Plus, there is plenty of space along the mount to add a flashlight, knife, spare mag, handheld ham radio, handheld GPS, tourniquet, etc..... and have it all readily accessible

I just put mine in the little pocket of the center arm console. It sits outside every time, till I get out and it comes with me.

My gun goes right on the center console armrest. No hiding, no storing it, no sliding into a holder. Or I just tuck it between the seat and console. If, I get pulled over, tuck it under my leg. It's with in the conceal carry law in FL.
