Secret Santa 2023: Thank you and we hope you had a great time!!

NEWS FLASH COMING OUT OF THE NORTH POLE...SECRET SANTA 2023 IS BACK ON!!!

While most of Santa's elves have been busy hand-crafting exquisite toys for Santa to deliver to boys and girls on Christmas, a few of his more crafty elves have been busying themselves by trying to convince Santa to allow them to handle this year's Secret Santa event. This would allow Santa to spend time concentrating on his more traditional responsibilities this year, and it would allow the elves an opportunity to host the most awesome Secret Santa event on the internet...

Well, Santa's elves are proud to announce that they were able to come to an agreement w/Santa, and he's going to let them host this year's Tundras.com Secret Santa event!!!

Santa's expectations are high, so let's do our best to not let him down and to keep the elves out of trouble.

If you are planning on participating, please read through the eligibility requirements and the rules of the event to verify that you are eligible to participate and able to carry out your responsibilities as a Secret Santa.

Also, let's do our best to be good Secret Santas and try to give creative and thoughtful gifts that are personalized and meaningful to the recipient.

2023 SS What Did You Receive Thread


Here's the timeline for the import dates:

November 15th: Sign Ups Closed

November 16th: Recipient Names Have Been Distributed to Secret Santas

Everyone should hopefully receive their gifts by Christmas. We understand there are often delays. If there is a serious delay, you will likely get a message from @Tundras.com Forum Santa asking what the deal is. If you don’t respond, we will be ready with the ban-hammer and you’ll end up on the @KRAMPUS list of naughty children. You could alleviate this by having a friend PM your recipient letting them know there is a delay or mail them a postcard letting them know there is a delay. Be creative, people!


NAME SUBMISSIONS CLOSE NOVEMBER 15TH AT 12 Noon EST, NO EXCEPTIONS and we mean it!!!! There are time stamps, so don’t even fuss.

Secret Santa Eligibility Requirements as of 2023:

Members must have joined before January 1st of the year participating (before 1/1/23 for this year's event).

Please note minimum gift requirement has been raised to $50 plus shipping.

Members must have at least 250 posts by October 17th to be added to the list! If you don't have the time or the post count, just participate more in the community and join in the fun next year.

We have the right to deny participation to anyone for any reason (unlikely to happen but some people are on a one year time out or permanent ban from future events due to various reasons).

If someone gets banned for any reason during the Secret Santa season and they are participating, they will be removed from the event and will be banned from future events. THIS IS YOUR WARNING TO BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR!

Please, Please, Please, don't do anything to get the poor elves in trouble!!!

Please read and follow all the rules or don’t participate.

Additional Secret Santa rules:

- Keep gifts PG-13 unless you know the recipient personally, lets not upset spouses or make things awkward for anyone… (again)

- Absolutely NO WHINING!!! If you whine incessantly, you may face a ban from future events.

- Assclownery and douche-baggery will not be tolerated. Try to stay on topic, otherwise elves may try to beat you with a stick.

- YOU must do the legwork once pm'd. If you need help, ask a friend to help. The elves WILL NOT do your dirty work.

- You must send a gift to the name you get, no exceptions... IE>>> (don't see eye to eye, don't like their mama, they're driving the wrong Gen Tundra, etc.)

- Once on THE LIST, you must send something REASONABLE to the name pm'd to you.

- Names will begin being pm'd out after Nov.15th, so plenty of time to get a gift for Christmas.

- You may be sending a gift out of the country. There’s no opt-out for this.

- Same as years past, there is no cap, you can be as generous as you wish but there is a $50 minimum for gifts excluding shipping costs. If you decide to go nuts and spend a ton of money, don't expect the same from your secret santa.

- We will do our best to make it fair and not have anyone in the same state, but it's hard when we have so many participants each year.

- Mods and the elves here on Tundras.com take no responsibility if someone flakes and does not send a gift. We will do our best to fix it, since we will have their names/addresses…. Maybe we'll send cousin Vinny to break their kneecaps.

- As long as you're on the commit list with full name AND handle, you will send AND receive a gift.

- Once a gift is received, please post a picture. Don’t make your Secret Santa sit there anxious and freaking out, wondering if a porch pirate snagged your booty. Please make sure to censor names and addresses to protect everyone’s privacy, or what little we have left nowadays. Please proactively check for packages but don’t whine daily about not receiving anything. It’s annoying and you don’t want to anger the elves.

- If possible, keep proof of the item being sent in case it's lost/stolen in the mail. At the very least, we can prove that it was sent out. Santa doesn't need this information proactively.

- Once Nov 15th, 12 Noon EST is here, you can not back out of your commitment. This is the only way to be fair to all participants. We use time stamps, so don’t try to argue this.

- If you choose to send your gift in a box, it's your choice to wrap it or not. Recommendation is to not send it in the box it came in, as to ruin the surprise.

You should all have your recipient's gifts selected, cleverly wrapped, and en route to them by now. Anyone who hasn't at least completed the above steps, please do so within the next day or two to avoid delays in your recipient receiving their gift(s).

Santa would love for everyone to have received theirs by Dec 15th. However, he does understand that delays and life happens; just keep @Tundras.com Forum Santa updated w/a quick PM if you anticipate any major delays in the process

Also, as a recipient, please try to post in the Secret Santa 2023: What Did You Receive? either same day or next day if at all possible, after receiving your gift(s). It leaves you Secret Santa wondering if you received your package or if it fell victim to porch piracy when they are showing it has been delivered but don't see a post from you indicating receipt of your gift

Thank you everyone for your participation and efforts, and please know that overall it seems like this event is going pretty smooth and without too many issues, so Santa wants to give you his sincerest thanks for keeping the Christmas Spirit alive

This is crap. No one has disclosed anything about the risk of getting pregnant if they receive a SS gift from a certain someone on this forum that has the potency of a viper in their snake. Now that opens up certain members to be liable and possibly financially responsible.

You really think this is our first winter rodeo???

You have to remember, 99.9997% of our days are filled with nothing but snow!!!!

So, us elves were just taking a couple of days to enjoy the last of our sunny days before the powdery white stuff starts to fall again

Buuuuuut, with that being said, we have talked about it, and the elves are going to make a special request (on your behalf) with the Big Man, to let the snow fall a little early this year.

However, if we do this for you, we are expecting you to be an extra special Secret Santa this year...
