Took delivery of my truck in mid Feb 2024.

    1. Should I expect to have my second fob by now?

    2. How do I get one when it is available? Is it shipped to me? Do I pick it up at the dealer I bought it from, or nearest local dealer (those are two different shops)?

    3. How do I check status? Who do I call?

Most of what I have seen and my own experience is that it takes about 6 months, so you should be getting it soon.

I got an alert in the Toyota app that it was ready. I went to the nearest dealership (not where I bought it) and was able to get the new fob without an issue

This is such a comically ridiculous situation. I suppose I’ll have a second fob in another few months.

I just got mine this weekend, have had my truck since April. Also had the notification in my Toyota app.

Mine took 7 months. I got a notification on the Toyota app, and a courtesy call from my dealership. It requires a visit to *any* dealership, so they can link the FOB to your truck.

How did the notification show up in the app? Just want to make sure I haven’t already missed it.

IIRC, it showed up as a notification on the initial screen when you open up the app. Just like a TSB or recall.

Go to www.toyota.com/recall and enter your VIN. I checked every day like a psycho until one day it was there. Bought the truck in Feb 24, got the 2nd key about 2 weeks ago.

i'm confused. If there is a FOB/Key shortage, how can you go to any dealership and they can hook you up by showing the app? Does that mean all dealerships are stocking extra inventory of keys?

It took 7 months before I got my second key. Yes, you can go to most dealerships and buy a key from the parts department, they're in stock. It was explained to me that the parts stock is not for the folks that bought a truck, that's for people that want extras or lost/broke a key. It's absolutely ridiculous that Toyota is still claiming part shortages when no other manufacturer is. What is going on at Toyota that they can't stock normal stuff anymore? I've been waiting on a windshield replacement for my wife's 2024 4Runner for over 2 weeks because the windshield is on back order. How is it possible that a vehicle that has been the same for 15 years now has a windshield shortage? These were our first 2 Toyotas we've ever purchased. Not impressed so far. And don't get me started on Toyota "customer care". This is unacceptable, but it won't change until folks quit buying and vote with their wallets.

BTW, my wife's 4Runner came with 2 keys at purchase, but somehow my Tundra, which cost $20K more couldn't?

Bought my truck mid April. Got my second fob yesterday. When I was in for the 10k service a few weeks ago I asked the service advisor and she ran my vin. Dealership had to order the fob which took about a week, then a week and a half to get me an appt.

Thought I had a new fob with no key....Turns out, they did give me an additional key when they sold me the truck.

If you get a notification in the app, I would definitely call the service center you plan to use and make sure they have one or order one.

FYI, have a friend that bought his in FEB and they ran his VIN a couple weeks ago. Still no key fob for him. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how its being fulfilled.

They gave me the second key when I bought the truck and told me it would go in the fob whenever it eventually arrived. But different dealers and salespeople are probably of varying degrees of competence in this regard.
