I have a 2015 Crewmax. Shop I went to for a short to ground ruined my headliner so I took it back in for them to replace it (they owned the mistake and put an oem new one in). Got my truck back and now the driver seatbelt has quite a bit of resistance and doesn’t lock at extension. I am hesitant to take it back and like working on most things myself but am no mechanic. Anyone have any ideas or guides to access the driver seatbelt? I know there are airbags in there so I wanna be cautious. Hoping they just installed the pillar incorrectly or something is pinched and would like to tackle it myself.

I think this is the same problem that happened to me recently when my brother and i dropped the headliner to install the roof rack. We put the headliner back but the passenger side seatbelt had trouble winding up and would get stuck. Turns out the seatbelt wasnt seated correctly in the mechanism that allows the seatbelt to adjust up and down.

It was an easy fix. Just pulled back the pillar where the seatbelt is and re-seated it. I watched a video in YouTube that showed how to change out the seatbelt and it briefly covered this but it wasnt hard to figure out. When you pull it apart you will see a notch that the seatbelt sits on. If it isnt aligned you will have issues . Hope this helps.

This is the video. Watch at the 3 minute mark

Just to clarify you will not need to disassemble very much to gain access to this location. Idk if the driver side is the same but in the passenger side you to remove the two bolts for the rear passenger grab handle and can gently pry back the b pillar exposing the area where the seat belt is mounted. Just be careful not to pull too hard in any trim pieces as they may break.
