Hi there. Scott here. I just picked up a 2018 Double Cab Tundra SR5 yesterday. I upgraded from a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport Access Cab to this Tundra. I’ve been a longtime member, though recently pretty quiet, over at tacomaworld.com.

Glad this forum exists for Tundra owners. I hope to learn lots from you all and trick out my new toy. I live in the heart of Denver, CO.

So far in the 150 miles I put on it yesterday, I’m most impressed with the collision avoidance technologies on this truck, specifically the adaptive cruise control - following the vehicle ahead of you. I’m also a huge fan of the 38 gallon gas tank - love me some range (until I go to fill it up, I’m sure.) :)

I’ll be using my vehicle to tow our 20’ 2017 R-Pod 179 Travel Trailer, as well as just fun driving.

I used to participate in off-road adventures in an old 4Runner I had, but didn’t see the practicality of the TRD Off Road package for me in a truck this size with the size of most trails in Colorado.

Thanks ahead of time for all the information I’m about to glean from you all!

    Scott

Welcome from Aurora. Yeah, the old mining "roads" tend to be a bit narrow at times. Got plenty of scratches that need buffing out......:mudding:

    Welcome to the party!!

Completely understand on the TRD package for your trails. Although he TRD on the SR5 does provide you with a couple perks, my favorite being the all LED headlights!

The TRDs are prettier - but no dealers had any in the color I wanted (Inferno), and I was having a hard time justifying the increased price of even just the Tundra to my spouse, over keeping the Tacoma. :)

The R-Pod is a great little camper. Pulls well, even behind a Tacoma. Can’t wait to try it behind the Tundra!

SR5s are more practical. You can always add something when and if you want.
