Bought my truck around five months ago and had it treated inside with whatever they use. I would notice when the light was just right that they smeared that gunk all over my inside windshield. Well after 5 months I decided to clean it today and all it does is SMEAR and it looks like there's a million little pock marks in it. Pock marks may be on the outside?? I used what I've used for years which is Invisible Glass.
Any thoughts on what to try to clean this mess???

Mine had this too but Windex seemed to take it off OK.

Make sure you are using a microfiber cloth with the cleaner. Papertowels, normal towels/rags do not clean windows very well, microfiber should work MUCH better.

Schmootz is a term for, well, schmootz. I guess anything sticky, greasy, or yucky consistency.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Buy a cpl. Get it a lil bit wet and use it over the entire thing. Best thing I’ve used on windows. Can follow and dry with a lint free towel. I’ve tried everything. Heavy weed smoker with resin and smoke that coats the interior windows. Until I found these I could never solve that problem

I wouldn’t recommend using the Magic Eraser… it’s abrasive, so you could jack up your windshield pretty easily.

I also wouldn’t recommend smoking and driving, but that’s off topic from the OP…

I smoke in there, not while driving. The tundra is my toy, got it for me, and I don’t smoke in the house. When it rains, snows, is windy, me and some buddies hanging out before a Hawks game tailgating, all that adds up. But I getcha.

as for jacking up the windshield, it never feels as if it’s an issue, doesn’t seem abrasive enough to do anything to the glass, but time will tell. And I don’t use it on any tinted windows, just in case and I should’ve mentioned that. My other go to is pretty much any foam type window cleaner but the safelite guy gave me like 6 of their brand on a windshield replacement once and they seemed great

But it's legal in Washington, just like it is in Arizona and California. Washington passed a law to make psychoactive mushrooms legal too right?

Legal to partake, not legal to do while driving  I pass no judgement on that part, and will not confirm or deny what I do on my own time...

Don’t listen to this guy. I’ve been using a Magic Erasers for a couple of years on all my cars. I found a YouTube video on it. It works great! I follow with a standard automotive window cleaner. All vehicles, especially new ones emit VOCs that stick to the windows. The windshield is especially susceptible because it’s steeper angle vs side and rear windows. Also, it’s not abrasive at all.

You guys are fancy. I use an old t shirt and rubbing alcohol. Leave the doors open a bit so it can air out after. Cleans all the schmootz and costs less than a dollar.

I used to use newspaper to clean the windshield inside and out but these days thats too expensive.

It’s probably fine to use them on glass if you go lightly, but magic erasers can most certainly be abrasive. And if you’re talking about the Chris Fix video on using them… well I’ll just leave it at that lol. I’m glad you’ve had good luck with them. I would rather use methods recommended by detailers.

    Here here...

Back to the topic at hand.

I use 3 parts water, 1/32 part rubbing alcohol and 1/64 Dawn washing soap in a spray bottle. Works to clean all the crap that from the windows...

For those needing measurements, it's 1 cup of water, 1.5 teaspoons of rubbing alcohol and 1/4 tablespoon of Dawn washing soap. I wipe the spray off the windows with a microfiber.

    Holla!

I only use it because it smells good but that spray away stuff and a microfiber towel has taken everything off my glass.
