Hi all , my kid got an 07 Tundra 4.74 door for next to nothing but dash is lit up . Brake light , (abs), 4hi &4 low flash, tpms and spedometer doesn't work at all . Snap on scan tool reads eng/trans but when I try read the (abs) codes ,the scanner can't comunicate .I do have power to the abs pump ,12v and a good ground . Will a bad (abs) pump stop comunication with a scan tool ? I broke the pass side front abs sensor after the fact but refuse to pay $200 a side until i know this truck has a chance and the ecu is not pooched

    Welcome from PEI!

Check the relays/fuse for the ABS.

I'm not sure an OBD2 can read ABS codes, correct me of I'm wrong, but it has to be plugged in directly to the ABS module???

That would be a big ole’ negative. Techstream will connect and read ABS codes via the OBDII connector, and a Snap-on scanner should be able to as well.

That said, be sure the appropriate scanner software versions are loaded for Toyota ABS before assuming it’s an issue with the truck / ABS module.

^This. Not all scan tools/software can read all ECM data. ABS info usually requires special scan tool software to read codes beyond just the general OBD2 codes.

    Welcome from NY.

Do you have a aftermarket remote starter installed?

If so unplug it and then try plugging in the reader.

Although it does seem to draw battery overnight sometimes ...nothing is obvious

How old is the snap on scanner and does it have an update to read your model year? I've got a modis here that can scan up till 2012. My autel will do up to 2018. They will read more ecu codes on just about anything but newer abs, bcm, tcm, etc modules may not be supported.

My only other idea is to use the jumper method in the OBDII connector to try to read the blink codes via the ABS dash light.

Would help determine if the ABS ECU is powering up and alive and well with a circuit fault, or if the fault IS the ECU or power / ground supply to it.
