SC Gator attack- Victim's last words "I guess I won't do this again"

I had heard about this alligator attack earlier in the week but didn't realize it was completely avoidable..

"A 57-year-old woman in South Carolina who died in an alligator attack on Friday was trying to photograph the animal and had reached out to touch it before being dragged under water, authorities said Tuesday."

I lived in SC for 8 years. For any public areas they usually have warning signs about them. I can't imagine anyone that lived there for any length of time would get close, less try to touch one. They do kind of lure you in.....just sit super still....but are blazing fast when they want to be. You are not going to outrun one.

 

I read that and had to keep making sure it wasn’t a story from the Onion. My favorite part is her telling the by-standers she doesn’t look like a deer right before getting pulled under.

 

How can you even a LOOK at a gator and think "I wanna pet it"??!

But I bet her husband will be suing the Wildlife and Game commission for letting the gator exist.

 

Her death was attributed to COVID-19 with underlying circumstances.

 

I live on a pond, and we have alligators. Yesterday the neighbors were out drinking, and from what I could make out there was a dare, and one of them decided to swim across the pond and back. About 200 ft each way. There was a lot of laughing going on from the drunk friends on the bank. I was wondering what would happen if the worst happens... they would have to live with that the rest of their lives.

 

All that's needed is to make alligator attacks illegal; look how well it works for Gun Control!

 

Alligators and crocs fascinate me. I wouldn't be too thrilled about living on a pond that has them in it though...
