this year. One committed suicide on my 18 at exactly 12AM Christmas Morning in LA ..... Lower Alabama. Never saw him until the last millisecond but had seen lots of deer for an hour or two before that. Son of gun came out of now where and boom.

No idea how big he was but the wife said she saw his rack and that was it before I heard the crash. All I saw was his underside for a half a second. So guess what I am getting for the new year? front corner panel, bumper, door, headlight, fog lights and lord only knows what else.

It could have been a whole lot worse but glad it was as minor as it was. Truck was drivable and made it home to FL. Merry Christmas to me!!

Probably that transmission cooler that saved you from further damages. :crapstorm: JK. Glad to hear the precious cargo is OK. Where in LA did you take out Rudolph? Just wondering it that's why there were no presents under my tree in Fort Morgan?:santa:

You turned Bambi into an orphan just to get new headlights? Shame on you! I shall notify PETA immediately. JK, look at the bright side, saving a small fortune on gas for a few weeks!

@hagrid has some surplus transmission coolers if you need a replacement. He hoards them preparing for Armageddon.

Highway 331 South of Montgomery which can be a 4 lane and then turn into a two lane. Just east of Opp Alabama.

You fellas need to get busy and hammer some deer in that area. I bet we saw over 60 last night alone. It was crazy. We've never seen that many in one night in that area.

Biggest one was a huge buck that came out of nowhere just south of Oxford, MS and ran right along side of me for about three seconds. He was in the median and I quickly jumped to the right lane. He was a wall hanger for sure.

Feel free to flush those big ones to the Brookwood area.

Yeah, we have TONS of deer down here, but mostly does and small bucks. For some reason there are fewer big bucks with nice racks. :monocle: I see dozens of does on my trail cams and only a couple of bucks - 4 pt or less.

I saw the hindquarter of a deer - looked pretty fresh - on the shoulder of I-10 this afternoon. Don't know where the rest of it went. There was no mess on the highway or the shoulder.

That sucks, glad you're okay. Is there anything you could have done to maybe prevent hitting it -- use of ditch lights, etc.? We have a lot of deer here, too, it seems like only a matter of time...

Even not driving isn't 100% safe. A friend stopped in traffic got Tboned by a doe being chased during the rut.

man if there was something that could make you miss a deer on a old lane highway in the middle of nowhere where lighting was pretty much zero and he shot out of the tree line and bushes then I have no idea.

I had Diode Dynamics in Yellow for my fog lights and those are awesome for lighting the ground and provide plenty of light on top of the standard OEM LED Lights. I will be replacing the DD because one was destroyed and I highly recommend them.
