Xmas gift from parents (Amazon gift card). I love that it has zippers on the seat so I can still fold one or both down. Also has an extra flapper to fold out over the bumper when they get in and out. The bottom isn't that thick so I threw in a crate pad under it.

Careful on the rear, I have factory glass tint on the back and did 5%, effectively reducing it down to 2%.... Love it though...but might consider redoing the whole car minus the front windshield, the original was only 65% heat rejection, I want 95-98% heat rejection.....

I can't go down that low because of my vision. I'm super far sighted, and my night vision isn't what it used to be.

I always try and get the highest heat rejection tint available. These ceramic tints are pretty awesome for it. Have it on my M3, and also on my previous Tundra. Even the legal limit clear film on the windshield makes a noticeable difference in heat on the inside.

Yea you get what you pay for, and those especially in Texas are worth every penny of it.

I'll have to get pictures in better light, but the wheels and tires are on! 255/75/17 (32x10") Yokohama Geolandar's. They look pretty good in person, I think.

I'm pretty sure I could've gone up another size to 255/80/17 or 33x10. The tire measures a true 31.25". Left a little bit of room in the wheel well to fill. Oh well, I'll just have to live with that for a few years until it's time to upgrade. They do ride pretty quiet and smooth, so that's nice.

I'm hoping when I add a little bit of weight back to the vehicle, and I get more miles on the springs, it settles down some.

    Adding back an aftermarket parts:
    Roof rack +55lbs
    Sliders/side steps +130lbs (65lbs per side)
    Skid plates +55 - 100lbs
    Aftermarket rear bumper +100 - 130lbs
OEM Class IV tow hitch +30lbs

The rear springs are at the lowest setting, and rated for 0-250lbs over stock. The front coilovers i can lower another .5" or so.

I regret this Evo kit on my JK so much! It's been a headache since the beginning. On the first page of the instructions they literally say not to bitch about how hard the install is. But then proceed to give the worst instructions I've ever seen for such an expensive kit. It was advertised as welding optional, bolt on. Then after you cut away a few things its says now weld this into place...So many mismatched bolts. Most of the bolts have rusted in the 3 years since installing. Questionable engineering on a few the bolt placements. When trying to remove the rear upper control arm to repair the mount it ripped, one bolt snapped in half and another was seized to the pivot and I had to cut it out. This thing has only lived in CO and TX. And only been installed since like 2020 or 2021. Ugghhhh!!!

Went back and raided Advanced Auto Parts on their 95% off auto parts store shutdown.

GX460 Brake Calipers and Rotors (upgrade)
    Serpentine belt
    Wheel hubs
    Water pump

    Total - $446.37
    Minus Cores - $286
    Grand Total: $160.37

Total before Store Closing Clearance would have been $1680.08!

Advanced Auto Parts is closing 700 stores across the US. Check Google Maps to see if they have any near you. Cross Reference that with AAP's website for store listings. The Store Closings will only show up on GMAPS, they've already removed the stores from AAP's website.

Thinking about it, I should probably use this opportunity to upgrade the JK's brakes. The newer JL uses 2 piston calipers where the JK is 1 piston. Larger rotors and pads too. Definitely going back tomorrow.

The brakes were good when i bought and started the JK project, so I left them alone. A few years of occasional mountain/trail driving on 37" tires and I still haven't heard any squealing, but I'm sure they're tired.

That's insane, I have been looking for parts for the Tree & my local AAP wasn't showing up on their site. I had no idea that was why.

I gotta go see what's left.

put it off as long as possible? lol, no. i've been debating back and forth if I want to do the OEM bumper cover or aftermarket. I can find OEM bumper cover for around $300+. Even banged up old covers that I'd never use are selling for $200. I've got notifications on FB and CL for any that pop up, from people going to aftermarket.

Or go aftermarket. Issue with that is, the oem bumper covers wrap around the side and up a little. Any FULL aftermarket rear bumper that covers that area is expensive. A lot of the decent priced ones require you to cut off some of the bumper cover, leaving the upper side portion. Which i don't have because it was all messed up from the original impact. Cheapest I can find is around $800 before any options, tax, or shipping (if those get applied).

I'll likely end up doing the Victory DIY weld together bumper. Half the cost of most other full rear bumpers, even at $800. It won't be before summer, though. Sometime after I move back to CO.

Still looking around, though. That bumper weighs 140lbs. I'd prefer a lighter one. The build is supposed to be geared towards street friendly with light trail work in mind.

I'd prefer stock. But I can't justify the prices being asked for a simple bumper cover. Hopefully an undamaged one will turn up on FB marketplace for cheap. And I threw away the foam insert that went behind it before I moved down here...

benefit of the DIY bumper is I'd get more welding practice in, which could be fun.

OK ok, I'll take this hit for.the seized bolt. I might have neglected to keep up with greasing the joint. But I don't think greasing it would have prevented the other bolt from snapping in half because the nut was rusted on...would it...

Well I got the joint pressed out of the control arm. Now to torch the seized bolt and see if I can press it out of the ball socket joint thingie

Got the brakes done. The rear driver side rotor was seized into the parking brake pads. And by the time I was able to hammer it off, some of the springs loosened and came off. Grr! So I just removed all of the drum brakes parts from that side. I really didn't want to ever do drum brakes again but looks like I'm going to have to. No parking brake action now, but the also no more pulsating when I apply the brakes. 2 steps forward, one back.
