I am a little confused as to why not use 18" wheel?
17" seems more of an odd-ball size....

They confirmed this in the email! I was thinking they may be directional tires for some reason.

I wanted to do a TRD theme'd build. Like just OEM+ parts. Nothing too wild. And 17" was the only size the TRD Pro wheels came in.

depends on the weight/type of the vehicle. 19" on a heavier GX470 would mean shorter side walls, and a rougher ride.

Digital Cluater showed up. First thoughts....it seems like a quality product! No instructions provided.

I have good reason to believe I'm one of the first people in the US to install one of these in a GX470!

I'm going to do a full unboxing here. And probably a fully install instructions for it and maybe a YT install/review. We'll see how productive I'm feeling when I get to it

could be a mix of ODB and Radio

ODB could be: CANL, CANH, GND, B+,
    https://pinoutguide.com/CarElectronics/Toyota_lexus_obd2_diagnostic_pinout.shtml

Radio could be: B+, GND, ACC, ILL,
    https://pinoutguide.com/Car-Stereo-Toyota-Lexus/Lexus_P1760_pinout.shtml

Unsure what Key1, Key2, CAN-RXD, CAN-TXD would be, or even if all of these are required.

I'm assuming it's getting at least some of this information from the OEM connectors, and these CAN wires are for more additional/optional data to display. Assuming the USB adapter is for firware updates or, lol, Carplay on the dash board?

RXD is receive/TXD is transmit, I learned that from hacking the 18+ cluster into my '13.

Ooooooo kaaaay, first thoughts are this thing is fucking cool!!

It's plug n play on a basic functions level. Turns on, Speedo, Tach, Temp, Fuel all show up and i think are accurate. Lights, turn signal, all show up like normal. It even has a Height setting for the OE GX's that haven't deleted the rear airbags wasn't expecting that!

Few things need tweaking out of the box. I assum these need to be done though the Key wires, or steering wheel controls. So that needs to be wired up with that additional adapter I posted earlier. Issue is that the steering wheel controls are already mapped to the radio. So I need to figure that out.

    Things that need tweaking:
    1. The Seat belt warning prompt is backwards. Says your unbuckled when you are and vise versa. Has a nice audible beep and displays a message for a little.bit then luckily goes away.

    2. And a more urgent need to correct, is it's displayed in Metric, not Imperial.

But so far, I'm ecstatic about it! Really makes it feel more modern. I'm eager to play with the rest of the settings

I need to figure out which of those wires i actually need since it seems to be working pretty well off the oe dashboard connectors. I'm guessing I mostly need the Key 1 & 2 wires. I think i have a Bluetooth steering wheel/radio controller i can connect to that. It was meant to control the Joying (android) Headunit in the JK but I never connected it

Loving the dash now! I need to swap out this current head unit for a newer version at some point. It's amazing for being free! But it's on android 8, last patch was 2019. And it's a little laggy at times.

Super easy to install. I posted a video a few pages back, someone's how-to on removing the cluster. And my experience was exactly the same. Installing is the reverse but also I need to wire up the controls.

    Cost $750 after checkout.

It's way easier than installing the plug n play head unit

Also noticed my Odometer reset to 0...

Reached out to the seller and got the pass codes to access the factory settings menu. Was able to input my correct Odometer numbers, and change the Speedo to MPH, and temp to F.

Oh and I was able to wire up a steering wheel control unit to navigate the settings with. It's just one i had laying around. But it doesn't really mesh up well. I had.to use the Keys 2 wire just to get the buttons I needed to work. Pretty sure I can get a better one off Amazon, but this will do for now

Dang it. I left the GX out in the rain for a little bit and water dripped all down the insides. Since I took the roof rack off, the bolts that hold it down are now too long, and don't seal the roof holes up. Moved cars around and the GX is back under car port and airing out.

Also been going down a rabbit hole of steering wheel swaps. I don't really like the look and feel of the OE one, but also I want to be able to control the new Digital Instrument Cluster with steering wheel wheel instead of a device like posted above. Seems the GX460 *should* work. Found one ebay seller claiming it's plug n play. It's on the list to research further. Would also be dope to have a heated steering wheel!

Think i got the roof rack delete sorted. Although I'll probably put up a low profile aftermarket roof rack before summer (to help with move back to CO)

    Needed:
    12 M8x1.25x20 Flanged Head Bolts
    12 3/8" Bonded Sealing Washers
    Silicone Caulk

I can not remember what should not be used on automobiles? something about about urethanes and silicones there is a preferred sealant to use and I do not remember what it was? Might want to check out what would be the preferred method to seal something on autos?

In the picture you posted there is a hole that moisture with drip in there if you do not seal it up better. Looking at the picture it is at 9 oclock.

and upon closer inspection a pin hole at 3:30 ish just an fyi

Good call on the silicone type. I'll have to look that up.

All of the silicone got squished down with the sealing washers, so I'm confident it filled in the pin hole. I cleaned up all the excess that squeezed out with the qtips

Although also ya, I used the cordless impact on the middle setting and some of the bolts probably squished down the washer too much and I probably tore one or two of nylon portion of the washer. I'll keep an eye on things but it's only temporary. Have my eye on a few marketplace cargo racks.

Victory and Prinsu are at the top of the list atm.

Ok so I went back and changed sizes lol. Now going with a more common 265/70/17. About .5" shorter and .5" wider than the 255's. It's one size above my current set, 265/65/17.

I spent too much time going through the Tire/Lift combo thread over on GXOR (again) and kinda love the look a lot more with this size. I also swapped out from the Trail Terrains to a more aggressive looking Falken WildPeak A/T4W in Standard Load configuration. It helped that these were on sale also, saved a few hundred. Install next week.

Revisiting the QP. Went back to fill in the gaps where a seam weld would normally go. On the top half where you make the body cut for the new QP, the gap was a little big. I had cut a small piece and welded it under where the two pieces met to weld together. The bottom part gap was pretty tight already.

Then used some JP Weld Steel Putty to fill the rest in. I've got some bondo that I'll spread over it in the near future.

OMG, I changed tires again! lol

I had the 265/70/17 Falcon's delivered to a Tire Rack Preferred shop, Autoscope European Auto Repair. TBF, they were really nice on the phone. When telling me they couldn't put tires on a Lexus because they're a Euro specialist lol! The GM denied it lmao.

I was already second guessing myself, AGAIN, on tire choice. I didn't realize until after ordering how heavy the Falcon's were. So I used this chance to return them at no charge to me.

Spoke with a sells rep and decided to go back to the 255/75/17's, but a different tire than the original BFG Trail Terrains. Sales rep said he did Moab in Jeeps with Yokohama Geolandar and were really nice. Said they do a lot better in the rain than the Trail Terrains also.

    :fingerscrossed:

Once I get the wheels sorted, I'm ordering some window tint. Currently only has factory 20% stain on the rear, and nothing on front. Like sitting behind a magnifying glass when the sun's out. Burning up in the drivers seat in winter.

The majority of the high end window tint is only available at a certified installer. Except Xpel. A friend of mine did a bunch of tint research a few years ago and that's the brand he had installed. So gonna go with their XR Plus Nano-Ceramic tint.

    70% on Windshield
    20% on Front
35% on Rear (over factory 20% stain)

Those are nice tires. I ran them a couple times (2 or 3) different trucks.

That weld job above looks right fine! It'll do.:)
