Have you tried expanding your search radius to the smaller outskirts towns within the same county? I visited a smaller DMV for an in person DL renewal. In town vs. out of town shrunk my appointment scheduling from 5 months to 3 weeks.

I know my local dmv in Tx does online appointments. Last time I went in when I titled and registered my 4Runner (first time it was done since 2010), I hadn’t sat down before they called me back. Gave them the form, the signed title, proof of insurance, and my DL. 15mins later I was out the door good to go. Go to the tx dmv website. There is a phone number you can call and get to an actual human and they’ve been pretty nice when I worked with them.

No clue about Tx, but we have DMV "stores" the service fee is reasonable & it has been walk in, transact, walk out done.

Maybe they have them in Tx?

Not easy to find & maybe not helpful.

Definitely buy it. Who cares how well it grips at that price. Mine is a Mo-clamp brand. No telling how much that one costed when new.

Alright, let's get back at it!

Borrowed my brother's air compressor, and got some tools from harbor freight. I left the first belt sander and cutoff tool up in CO. But used this as an opportunity to get the slightly better, more expense versions this time. 1/2" instead of 3/8" belt sander for panel sealant and spot welds. Also some PPE

    + $200

The 1/2" belt sander is working way better than the 3/8" for this job. Got most of the sealant removed from the bottom part of the fender. Not sure there are spot welds under this area. Which would be nice to not have to deal with.

First cut done, and it really wasn't that hard to do! Only spot welds left are along the rear passenger door. Knock those put and two more cuts and the panel should be free! I'm cutting short on this first go and will see how far to take it later.

Gonna see if I can't get the old bent support post off today. But I really need to look over that area better now that I have the qp skin off. I may just try and pull some of it out first. Also I'm not sure I have anything, like an adjustable post, to support that corner of the roof once I do cut into this more. It would be less spot welding later, to remove as much of the current support as possible.

Decided I need to try and straighten the bottom tub out before hacking out the corner reinforcement. Went to harbor freight again, I love that it's less than 2 miles away! Found this ratcheting cargo support bar for $18. Perfect to support that corner when I do pull the reinforcement part out

My area got hit pretty gard but luckily no real damage to the place I'm staying at. Which I won't be here for long. Having a bad experience with this property and things failing every week. I like to describe it as a shit hole with fresh paint. It's seriously a comedy of errors in how they decided to "fix" and "renovate" this place. Don't get me started lol

I did get some work done the other weekend. Got some of the damage pulled out. I need to remove more metal before continuing though. I may even get a mobile body guy to come assist with this core part.

It works really well so long as the metal it's clamping to is straight. I need to pull against the curved part also but can't. The 2k lbs winch puller I got is barely adequate though.

But I think the main issue is the technician lol.

Also I need to work the metal in other ways before it'll true out enough to spot weld the new corner support piece to it.

I wonder, if the metal you’re trying to pull is NOT straight, if you could tack weld a straight piece of scrap to the curved portion for the tool to clamp to.

I’ve only used the tool myself a few times, but I do think they’re cool! Lol

Slowly but surely!!:) WOW! You are gettin er!!
I would never tackle a job like that. It is neat to see how you are doing things!:)
I’d pull on a piece and ruin another trying to straighten it.

Thanks for posting the repair journey.

I posted on Reddit, but looking for mobile body shop recommendations to help me finish part this out.

The stupid jeep has a Cylinder 5 misfire that I'm trying to chase down. Between that and the intermittent "small evap leak" I can't get the jeep inspected.

And here's why that matters...TX is dumb! In order to get my license transfered from CO to TX, I first have to have a vehicle registered in TX...And in order to register, I have to pass the emissions test. Which can't be done with a check engine light on. That seems so backwards to me. LIke why do I have to have a vehicle first before you'll transfer my License?? lol. And my M3 is still in CO. I've got about a month left, if I don't get it transfered before then, I have to go through the whole process of getting a drivers license in TX from scratch...end rant for that...

I've also given 60 days notice to move out of this leaky mold ridden townhouse. So that's a whole other issue I'm dealing with atm too. Won't even go into the details on that rabbit hole.
