I have having issues with SAIS getting check engine lights and putting truck into limp mode. Mechanic has changed both pumps and a new mas air flow sensor. And with less than 200 miles since it is doing it again.

is the bypass kit worth it? And is it a permanent fix. I have been reading on the forums and everything I read is several years old.
My truck is a 2007 with the 4.7

I'm no specialist, but it sounds like either used parts were probably used, or possibly the wrong parts were replaced. Hewitt bypass from what I've read is the most common ones to use, and has the best customer service, again from the common threads. Feel free to check me on it, but odds are if no one is consistently posting about the bypass kit failing, it's because it's pretty good. Otherwise the recurring theme would be the SAIS issue and nothing works.

I’d get the bypass kit and be done with it. But does that mechanic have any sort of warranty? Either on parts he sold you or labor? 200 miles is a week or 2 of normal driving. Any repair should last a lot longer than that.

Do you remember what the codes were before the mechanic replaced the pumps?

Your problem now could be a different part of the SAIS which now could be the switching valves which are located on the valve covers for your model year and engine ( I have the same)

I had the SAIS fail on my truck twice the firsts time @ 135k miles which was replaced under warranty the second time @ 255k miles this time I got the Hewitt Gen 2 kit which I have had no issues with

I do suggest getting the bypass kit even with replacing the SAIS I would expect the problem to return at some point it at least did for me. The system is poorly designed and has been the only issue for my truck

I don’t remember what the codes were. It is back at the shop now hopefully they will find some. I have ordered a scanner and will be looking at ordering the Bypass kit.

I highly suggest the Gen 2 kit it is more expensive than the Gen 1 but it is a better unit. Instead of trying to fool the ECU it doesn’t need to run the Gen 2 kit replaces the module that has the drivers
