Not an owner yet, but sub'd because I was going to pull the trigger 6/5 on a 1794 Long Bed Hybrid... holding off a bit due to this fiasco. I'm waiting for the dust to settle.

The dust will never settle on the engine. But the dust will settle in my mind on whether or not I want to own an iForce Max in short order.

    Lots of stuff!
This is probably going to mislead some owners as the title actually has a recall number! The dealership's phones will be ringing off their hooks.

It seems that the debris might not be the entire issue? If the cleaning process was corrected in January of 2023 and these are still popping, maybe the issue is something else? Just thinking out loud. ;) At least the hybrid can still drive a bit and steer and stop! Lucky hybrid owners!

But how many of those engines were produced before January '23 and sat until they were ready to go in? Production date on the truck doesn't mean much, it's the engine build date that counts, now how can we figure that out?

It's been posted here that the motors are built 10 days before the truck's build date which means the motors aren't collecting dust.

According to the official document from Toyota they seemed to be hot on the trail at the beginning of 2023. That explains why some Feb and March 2023 trucks have not been included in the recall as of yet. Toyota got the dirty engine process cleaned up and the failures potentially slowed down.

So the missing part to all of this is why the trucks after January 2023 are seeing issues that are probably the same failures with the main bearings seizing up. So does that mean that maybe the debris is the main bearing material coming apart. Maybe why the oil analysis' are coming up with higher silver readings??

There is still some more details that need to come out before we really understand.

In the meantime, my Tundra will sit, with the knowledge that my truck can create an unsafe situation, I can't put my family or others in danger and knowing that this failure can create the potential just makes me want park it. Also, I don't want to be liable with the knowledge that I could hurt someone.

I asked my dealer for a truck loaner today. I also told them that I was going to bring my truck to their lot and leave it there until it gets a new motor. I don't expect that they will accept either of these asks. So it will sit in the driveway and I will take the battery out and store it til something changes. Then I will start the chain of calls and emails to Toyota Customer Service (if that even exists) and see where that gets me.

I told them that I don't want to trade it in and lose a bunch of money. I want them to make my truck operate without the black cloud hanging over it.

I will also bring up the rebuild process and how that doesn't work for me after the mess I have seen in some of these threads.

"How long will this take" is going to be the biggest question?

    Hello,
2022 toyota tundra limited (hybrid). I have been bringing my truck into Right Toyota (Scottsdale, AZ), since I bought it in Oct 2022, for a knocking in my engine (I was the first person at that dealership to bring my truck in for these issues BEFORE the recall went out). I've had multiple instances where I am driving and I randomly lose power to my gas pedal, one of which when I was trying to pass a semi-truck, and almost caused an accident. I took my truck in on December 31st after I was making a right turn on red (oncoming traffic) and I lost power again. Toyota has done 2 ECU tunes to try and work out the knocking (it is still happening), but I am having trouble figuring out the catalyst to re-create the engine power loss. I saw that a class action lawsuit has been generated against Toyota that specifically calls out them ignoring the hybrid engines, even though they showing the same symptoms. I got my truck back and it immediately starting showing the same symptoms, so now the head technician is driving my truck as his daily to see if he can re-create it (40 miles from his house to work..). I am concerned for my safety, should they tell me I just have to deal. Has anyone made any headway with a dealership and/or the mothership (toyota corporate)? I assume not since the lawsuit just got generated, but I thought I'd put feelers out if there were ANY success stories.

Also, has anyone been in contact with the plantiffs of the lawsuit? How do we join (unsure how that whole process works)
