Hey y’all! With mixed emotion, I sold my ‘12 TRD OR to get into some new tech since needs (and life) have changed… Looking forward to hanging out & reading the boards!

Towing question: Pulling my small TT with my Taco, I’d just drop it into ‘4’ and go! Maybe drop it into 3 on a good hill, for power. With a whole slew of options in ‘S’ I’m not sure how to proceed. It defaults into S3 but that’s definitely not enough for highway speeds. Is it prudent/safe to knock it up to S6 or S7? What’s the right gear for towing 1800lbs?

(I’ve read the manual in several sections and can’t find the answer, so asking the fam’.)

    TIA, Gareth

TJ, thanks for the quick reply! Just double-checking, leaving it in Drive is okay? I’d understood not wanting it to constantly search for a gear if in D… hence putting it in S? At least, my Tacoma specifically advised putting in 4 so I figured similar in a Tundra - no?

owners manual usually gives that info, at least it has in the earlier gens, which was tow haul and S4. Bet it is mentioned in the manual for the 2022.
