I don't know if its a big deal, but I've ran across a few threads here about rusting frames? I don't know the the back ground or where it currently sits.

Anyways, I had to remove my front bumper this weekend to install my color matched ends. It was easier to remove the front tow rings and this is what I found. I was surprised, the truck is new (less than 1k miles) and I garage it. Went ahead and put some paint on as it won't be seen once I reinstalled the rings.

I’ve been spraying any surface spots like that on mine. Using rust master by kimball midwest. It leaves a nice finish that’s paintable or can just leave it as is.

Look into amsoil HD metal protector, crc metal rust preventer, fluid film, woolwax. Figure out which is best for you and spray it every year or two. There are a few threads here. You have minor surface rust but it can get ugly in cold states that use salt and various chemicals to melt ice

Amsoil HD metal protector is what I used on mine. I get at cost if interested.

I found the same thing when i pulled them off to paint them red...(looks nice) :) I assume these parts are already assembled before the chassis is painted. After all the problems i had with rust on my previous truck, i am probably being extra anal about how i treat/prevent rust on my first Tundra.
