I said I would take more pictures in the https://www.tundras.com/threads/any-good-frame-oiling-recipes-out-there.76534/page-3#post-1963537 thread...but figured I'd just started another one with all of these pictures and shit.PXL_20201103_230612024.jpg PXL_20201103_230736834.jpg PXL_20201103_230807844.jpg PXL_20201103_230853790.jpg these are from top side of rear cross member where spare is

This is a shot up into the boxed frame towards front on each side. Don't think it looks that bad, could it look brand new? Yes but....

I started the PHM @Professional Hand Model method of rust prevention/maintenance the other day in the thread above. I've pretty much got everything I want to and can reach by hand with the grease. I say want to because I'm not quite sure if the grease will lock in any moisture and make things worse in these "trouble" spots. Which are just surface rust currently. Other than a hard to get to and see spot right tight to the gas tank. It's not horrible but believe the fluid film will donuts job til I can get in there.
Think what I'm gonna do in the X/rear cross member is spray FF on the top side and thennnn nest spring that bed is coming off and I'm doing it all from a standing position.

Did you clean your frame before application? If so, how'd you do it?

Looks great I would not worry at all. Wish mine had looked that good.
Also the Ff will keep out oxygen which it needs to grow.
Good as that is I would not waste the time to pull the bed unless really bored.

    All the usual stuff!
Use this and paint right over the rust, as what the directions say to do.75EC60FF-DFFE-4D61-8D8C-2255FC99C5AB.jpg

I wouldn't say I cleaned it. It never really gets that dirty. I spray up underneath in the winter amd some times during the rest of the year. I'd say it's better to not introduce more moisture right before doing this sort of thing.
Just used a wire brush and a flat putty knife. Wasn't a whole lot to work. Sprayed the welds and rusting areas I could find at the time with on blaster, about 2 days prior. Then sprayed FF where I needed, waited a day or 2 then went to town greasing what I could. Probably gonna but 1 more can of FF and hit some more spots I didn't see first go round and call it good til I either do more work on something else and find an area or next year when I pull the bed

i would at least hit it a wee bit to take light scale off before puting POR down, but yea, POR works wonders

I like using the fluid film gun on an air compressor. A gallon was only $43 on Amazon. I like to spray heavy in the frame channels. The long wand get deep into places that are unreachable. I use 2-3 gallons a year living in Ohio, and on the beach in Tx the last couple years. It works.

Same. I use woolwax and put about a gallon and a half the first coat last year and same this year. I swear by it.

POR-15 is great stuff, but in order for it to last, it requires a LOT of prep. You're not just going to paint over a rusted frame and have good results.

Did you find it wears off? Did mine a year ago. Checked last week and still looks great. It looks like I could get by with every 2 to 3 years. But I only put 5K miles a years on truck. If I was doing every year I would buy the 5 gallon pail.
Also I had a spray can of the black color to test and for touchup if needed. But I find the clear/tan color easier to tell if covered or when needed.

I don't care what those instructions on I can't say they don't care about your frame as much as you do. This is why I'm pulling the bed next spring. A lot of the stuff under there is just flaky surface rust wouldn't take much at all to remove dry out and clean and paint correctly. Thanks for the input I've heard that stuff does work
