    Hi
So I'm looking at the Rough Country DS2 Drop Steps for my truck. Just for grins I stopped by local Line-X shop to see what they would price them at. Gave me fair price, I'm cool with that, man has to make some money.

But he's wanting to charge $295 to install. I get it, I'm new at this but wow, is that normal going rate?

It takes like 30 mins. Wow, that's basically $600/hr he's charging. I wouldn't buy anything from anyone who tries to rip you off like that.

Id say do it yourself its not that hard you'd be done in less than 30 min, hell if you were local I would come and help you out and only charge you a beer...or 2

I just sold my old OEM steps - took all of 10 minutes to install on the new owners truck. If they want $295 just for the install that is way too much. Very easy DIY.

Shoot, I bet even the Toyota dealership would only charge you $100. I’d definitely shop and not do it for more than. $100 or DIY

I'd have to try hard to make it a 1 beer effort. Yep...don't pay $295.

Not the same brand, but the ones on my old Tundra were $300.00 for both the bars and install. $300.00 for installation seems crazy.

Took literally 10 minutes to get them off my truck. Installing them IMO is a two person job, but would be super easy and take like 30-45 minutes. Shop I looked at to buy new ones wanted $30 to install them, which I thought was reasonable. Decided I liked the look of no tube steps though.
