I mainly haul around band PA gear on short "tours" and gigs. I found the rubber mat on my old first gen Tacoma easy on the gear and my knees when I had to climb in. And when I needed to crash out in the truck overnight!

The liner in the Tundra has much sharper edges -- anyone know what sources there are for a decent correctly cut rubber mat?

Feed and supply store and get a 3/4" stall mat; easy on the knees and it'll provide protection for the equipment and keep it from sliding around so much

Does bedrug make one for the 3rd gen already?
I had one in my 2011 and loved it. The foam bottom is shaped/fitted to the ridges in the bed and the rug top is flat. Perfect for what you're doing.

Which one works with the bed liner installed similar to the OP's truck?

I just want one for the bed and it's looking like they only make for spray in liner or no liner at all?

Or do we have to go with the cut to fit option?

I have the OEM rubber matt....kinda stinks . If you want to save money I would just cut a hunk of carpet to fit. If you are loaded ....carpet like it all like Knabores

What’s wrong with the oem mat? (Other than it being back ordered)

It’s a kit. Sides and bottom. It’s padded. It’s divine. Washable. Non slip. Easier to move stuff on than rubber though. The best.

The problem with the bed rug is that I want the option to sleep in the back.

I’m sure you ask “wait isn’t the carpet then a good thing?” Well yes, but in the real world there’s rain and mud getting in the back — and a plain rubber mat wipes dry very fast. Carpet? Not so much.

    Thought you had a cap.
Anyway, it's not really carpet. It's poly fibers and you can brush it, hose it, vacuum, etc.
The only downside is dog hair and sawdust. Gets stuck in the fibers and a bitch to get out.
The best part is the foam bottom that interlocks with the ribs in the bed. If they don't make a bedrug for your truck that does that, then I'd say you're better off with a rubber mat, stall mat, etc.

I’m quite tall and sleep with the cap and tailgate open, with maybe a tarp over. These are usually post gig crashouts in the back at music festivals etc.

I have an ‘89 Ford with a Spirtsmobile conversion — which was great for attending festivals. Now that I’ve joined a band and started playing them, it’s not as easy to focus on creature comforts…!
