I'm interested in getting this bumper and I realize that that it is not compatible with RCTA/BSM. :(

I'm speaking to a fabricator here in Henderson, NV. He said that we should be able to replicate what the ICI Magnum bumper has to offer and keep the BSM system operational. Our thought process is to cut an area and place a thinner sheet metal and mount the sensor and hoping that all i need to do is recalibrate the sensor.

The area i'm looking to mount the sensor will be area behind to the outside of the bed step.

    any thoughts?

thank you, I was looking where my sensor is mounted, and it appears to be behind really thin sheet metal painted to match the truck.

Is the tundra's oem rear bumper steel or aluminum? or a mix of metals and plastics?

Is there a plastic cover for that hole in the bumper for the sensor?

Hopefully it works, im going to keep the mounting and cut what i need from the bumper to get that sensor as close to oem location as possible.

did you need to recalibrate? any trouble since getting that bumper set up? And where did you purchase?

    thanks!

I did a massive search for a single ICI bumper last month to replace my rear bumper during a replacement after a bumper-bender.
I learned that ICI has sold the rights to manufacture the tundra series to a new vendor and production, I was told by a particularly good rep, will be announced “early next year” I.e. January.
I thought of modding a non BSM ICI version, but not taking the time/risk to do it. The repair shop was willing to do the switch but said toyota was finicky on the bumper covers and won’t allow them to repaint or repair them. (I am a bit skeptical of the reason) You might use or look look for an old cover and cut to fab what you need. I Gave up and had the truck repaired and waiting to see if that pans out to decide on the ICI mod later.

Will do. “Migraine” has a thread on this bumper, and was very helpful. She got one of the last ones and her install works.
The majority of these online vendors don’t have any stock they just drop ship from the factory. I even bought one that didn’t exist. I quickly knew more about the status of ICI and application of this bumper than all the CS reps I spoke with. Nobody makes the BSM bumper, this was the only one. Vendors in Florida and at Midwest auto were most impressive. They contacted ICI, did the research and called back with their intel even when they had nothing to sell.
I don’t know about recalibration. My right rear corner has been replaced 3 times. Once by me, once for the recall, and just recently. No recalibration needed. Works just fine. (That radar sensor sells for about $800 !)

The OEM bumper (painted bumpers) are plastic because of the sensors. I don't think thin sheet metal will work. See if you can get something like plexiglass to cover it rather than metal. There is a reason why Toyota change the bumpers from steel to plastic when the BSM is optioned.
