If u can budget for 200 ish for a kinetic rope that will get you a good one. Can try yankum, or ARB. There are quite a few out there but the cheapest I would be very leery of

Right, I am getting one just for a very rare back-up-just-in-case usage. I have no intention to run full time road side rescue, so I don't plan to drop too much money on it, but if I had to give someone a quick yank to get out in a jiffy, I just need something, other than a old piece of rope, which actually might be tougher than those fancy kinetic ropes.... you know, back in the old days, they make things to last, way past when I am dead....lol

But I agree, just getting the cheapest would be stupid waste of money

I sucked it up to bought a Yankum. Hate to be in the situation where you need it only to have an inferior product fail.

IMO, straps are better than ropes since they roll up nice and can slip into tight clearance areas easier. That said, carry a chain too in case you need to drag a downed tree or pole. Plus you can combine it with your rope/strap if nasty mud is present.

So how many times were you stuck and need to use a rope/straps?
I also wonder if the numbers are possible, simple ropes are capable of that amount?

If you’re offroad quite a bit, you might wanna go with a name brand. But If you’re buying one to keep in the truck for emergencies, I’m sure that kit will be fine. You’ll probably use it once in the next 10 years. I would just give them a little test run to make sure they don’t snap on the first try. ;)

Honestly, never had my Tundra stuck. However, I have pulled everything from a zero turn mower stuck in mud to a loaded large Fedex step van stuck in snow. Last pull was a sedan buried in mud and believe it or not, pulled from the rear with a strap routed through the speaker cutouts below the rear glass because there was not many other ways to get a hold of it and the owner/driver was willing to assume the risk. I probably help out about 10-15 people per year who don't look before they leap .
