Hey guys, I am expecting my new shell any day now for my 2016 CM. I am having tracks installed on the shell, but I do not have any on the cab. I am planning on putting a rhino rack pioneer platform on both, the cab and the shell. As far as mounts go, I hear the Smittybilt AM mounts are as low-profile as I can get with the platform. How do I ensure that both platforms will be level and flat with one another? Do I install tracks on my cab? Are the mounts adjustable to accommodate the height difference with one being mounted to the tracks and the other being mounted to the bare roof? Any suggestions or advice is welcomed. I am pretty set on either the RR pioneer platform, the front runner platform, or the yakima platform, so any suggestions with any of those are welcomed as well. Thanks in advance and please excuse my ignorance in this matter.

If you decide to mount racks or tracks to the roof of the truck that require drilling be very careful and do a lot of research. The air bags are directly under where you will be drilling and people on here have discovered that fact, much to their chagrin, by putting a drill bit into them.

I personally wouldn’t want to damage the galvanized coating on the steel and introduce a point of corrosion or water ingress either. But each to his or her own in that regard.

I've got dual Front Runner Slimline II's on my 2013 Crewmax. I guess it would depend on your use for the platforms. We have tons of accessories for our Slimline II platform. If you are wanting to use the rack for general use, Yakima and Rhino Rack are great. If you are looking for an off-road purpose-built platform, I recommend the Slimline II. Anything you want to mount to it, we probably made a mount. It's very modular and strong as well. Yes you do have to drill into the roof to install the Cab Rack since Toyota didn't give Tundras factory mounting points, but since you are already having the tracks installed on your shell, our components for that are just bolt-on. You can either go with a load bar set up or a full tray set up like the one on mine. The cab and canopy trays wouldn't sit level, but it would be very close!
