picked up my 15 SR5 Saturday and didn’t notice until I got home, but the bottom 6-8” of the clear coat is textured. Carfax showed no accidents, and sticker mentioned some type of protectant package.
Is this a poor paint job, or something done to protect the paint from rock chips, etc?

I forget what it’s called. It’s normal. It’s to protect from dings

It’s more for protection of rocks and debris that kick up.

It's called rock guard and it's actually beneath the paint.

It's funny, my wife just had a minor freak out about this yesterday, thinking that I had done something to the paint when I was messing with plasti dip... I saw it right after I got the truck and just assumed it was a protective thing, but good to have confirmation on that now.

I had the same freak out the day after I bought my first Tundra.
