Hi. I took my 2018 in for headlight recall. They found a leak on right cam tower which Toyota covered under powertrain warranty. 39,500 miles. No complaints here. My question: is it common to only have leaking on one side? They said no weeping or leaking on left side. What do you folks think about that? Is it believable?

Yes, they’re 2 separate “form in place gaskets”. You could have one leaking and not the other. Mine was done under the 1st owner with 30k something miles. Just hit 50k and it almost looks like my drivers side is getting damp again. As long as it’s not dripping it doesn’t matter at all. My 2010 leaked as well and it was never an issue as far as dripping or oil loss between changes. Also, YMMV but I’d request they not pull the cab to do the repair but that’s just me.

My driverside is weeping and I get a small collection, of what appears to be a drip of oil that forms right on the rear cam tower. I monitor it and just wipe it off. Seems to collect in that area every 3000 miles or so. Obviously not a major issue and not tearing my engine down for it unless it gets worse. So far it’s been that way for approximately 20k. Here is the pic of what I get. Not much but noticeable if you look like me. Lol.
