Reverse camera not engaging w/ reverse. . .

    2006 Double Cab Tundra
    so I installed a new head unit w/ backup camera installed on tailgate. . everything works EXCEPT. . . I have to manually put the stereo in backup camera video mode. . When I shift to reverse it doesn't go automatically. . . wondering if anybody has insight. . thanks!

    Oh, and if you did something ghetto af, like using Scotchloks or similar non-crimp connections (wire nuts, etc), they're potentially the problem also. They require too much force to engage, and do way too much damage. NEVER use that style of connectors unless you want problems down the road, especially for connections exposed to the outside elements. Posi-taps or crimp-on butt splices/etc. are the proper way for a long-lasting splice that's pretty much fool/fail-proof.

    Its surprising to me that Posi-taps aren’t cheaper. Totally agree with their use after having a lot of my driver brake light destroyed by shitlocks or whatever they’re called, but…. At five bucks apiece, that’s asking a lot of folks.

    Check your stereos instructions. You may need a separate power wire to the head unit (trigger wire).
