I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.

It’s not going to open without assistance. If you move the cover more forward, you create a bigger gap between tailgate and cover for water so pick your poison. I personally like that it won’t open without physical assistance.

Yup, same. The seal created limits the tailgate drop.
