We've had the powertrax pro for several months now and absolutely love it... but has anyone looked at the newer XR series?

Our current is perfect for us at the moment but some of you may like the new if you are currently on the market. The other day I put a 45lbs box on the lid and opened it to see how strong that motor is... opened just as smooth as if nothing was there. After our lease is up and I buy the truck so the Mrs. can have a new toy I will probably put a shell on but until then the Retrax powertrax is worth a look.

See Info Page DeChroming... in progress.
I have the pro MX but not the power one like yours. I love mine... and I got it for a steal at $700. Nearly $1000 off sticker.

I need to remove it though and put weather stripping under the rails to make it a bit more waterproof though.

That is a hell of a deal... certainly worth not having that remote feature for the price lol. Ours is sealed pretty well with the exception of the tailgate. A little water gets in from the car wash jets but nothing major. I'm putting some weather stripping on the very bottom edge touching the tailgate next.

Same... Love the versatility of the retrax but I'm going up to a shell, need more space back there for roadtrips.

I’ve been looking at installing one of these. My primary concern is security and remaining mostly waterproof (I don’t mind a little seepage here and there) when used with a rack system for an RTT. Storage isn’t a huge concern, but with the short bed on the CM, it is at a premium. Have you found the the roll-up box is fairly low profile and out of the way? Also, any recommendations on poly vs aluminum? Thanks!

The box does take up some space that is one draw back. There are also two drain tubes that drop below the deck down into the bed... so you always have to be mindful when shoving stuff all the back. Ease of use and security was why we went with the powertrax. I’ll try to get some pics loaded for you. Ultimately I’d like to transition over to a shell for more space as mentioned above. Can’t give much feedback between poly and aluminum... we went with matte poly. I think the aluminum holds up to 200 more lbs on top when closed. Poly holds up to 300 lbs but honestly they only thing I’ve placed up there is a 7 yr old and a 4 yr old child.

I also noticed the box takes up some space with my roll n lock cover and the drain tubes going out the front. I was disappointed in losing this space until I decided to install the air tank for my train horns right under the box housing; made use of the space under there and no longer disappointed. :)
