295 70 18 tires. Diamondback hard bed cover.
Hello everyone! I just got my first 2021 toyota tundra trd pro. My first truck ever and love it!
I decided to put on 295 70 18 nitto ridge grappler tires on and based on multiple youtbe videos, saying that those size tires dont rub. Mine are rubbing on the sway bar slightly... only on the passenger side. Does anyone have the same issue? Is there a way to fix it without adding spacers? Or should I go with 285 70 18? Lower? Thank you so much in advance!

    Peace and love,

    Hansito

    Welcome to the forum, @Hansito.

Which tires fit is something that is kind of a rule of thumb rather than an exact spec type of deal. Each truck is a bit different and there have been multiple instances of two people putting the same tires on and getting rub in different places. That's when both trucks have the same wheels and are using the same brand tire. Once you start changing wheel offsets (what offset are yours?) or tire brands, all bets are off.

I got SCS wheels with a +25 offset and some 275/70R18 tires because another member had them on stock suspension and he had no rub after removing his little front air dams under the bumper. Well, he had Nitto Ridgegrapplers and I got Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires, and according to Tire Rack (IIRC) the 275/70R18 Nittos are 33.19 inches and the 275/70R18 Falkens are 33.43 inches. Where he had no rub, I did. Exact same wheels and the "same" tire size with two different results because of a variance based on tire brand. Even now with the truck lifted a bit I still get rub.

You'll want to get more complete info for any kind of wheel/tire discussion because you WILL be asked for it.
    1. What is the offset of your wheels?
    2. What, if any, lift do you have?
    3. Where exactly is it rubbing, and under what conditions?
    4. Most importantly :worthless: We are like little kids here and we LOVE pictures.

I don't have any experience with the tire size you are using, but as stated above, I am running a smaller tire and I still have rubbing at full lock in reverse or some turns when the suspension cycles. I'm not exactly surprised that you are getting rub with a larger tire. My only suggestion right off would be to see if any of it can be eliminated with an alignment adjustment.

I have a 21 trd pro as well, I also have the exact size ridge grappler. I haven't noticed any rubbing. I'll check thoroughly when the sun comes up. If they rub its so minor I can't tell.20211202_164051.jpg

What air pressure? The 285 being 10mm thinner would solve the problem, I wonder if a higher air pressure wouldn't just stand them up a little more.

To avoid sway bar rubbing you can use spacers.

As it sits, the rubbing won't cause any mechanical issue, the rubbing is more likely grazing the paint off the sway bar when at lock to lock.

Do you guys think I could run this tire on my 21 w the 6112 at 1.9? I know the fox pro shocks are 2.0" lift. I'm hunting for very clean trd pro wheels as we speak if y'all know anyone

Thanks for the info! I was thinking perhaps shave the tires a bit to avoid the rubbing instead of the spacers.

For some reason my passenger side tire is inward, and the right side pops out a tiny bit more. I'm guessing this is why is rubbing on the passenger side sway bar?

Such an annoying and unessesary stress. Lol..

just a quick add on for OP... i just added wheels last week myself and opted for a larger tire as well. if you do decide to make the move to spacers or wheels with more offset just be aware it may not outright remedy the rubbing and can make it worse as the new offset won't tuck the wheels like the stockers were. many of us still have to pull the splash guards ahead of the front wheels and the mudflaps behind and either push, heat or cut the liner to create more space.

Do not shave the tires! If you are rubbing in normal turn, then get it check out, if you are rubbing at full turn, then it's bit the norm.

Yes sir, I agree. It's why I even thought of shaving the tires. But ill have then re install the tires to see if that works.

    Thanks!
