RESOLVED: Driver and passenger mirror rattle

    2006 Tundra SR5 DC 4.7 2WD LSD towing pkg
    Bilstein 5100's with 2883's - close to 2" Replacing the 2883's and going back to the bottom perch ASAP -mobile/apple play stereo with sub and backup cam -Power stop HD front calipers and rotors for towing -20" wheels with 32" tires (305/50's) Toyo AT 3's with no rubbing -Westin nerf bars -Detroit axle new (not rebuilt) steering rack with poly bushings, inner and outer TRE's -Suspension Maxx extended front sway bar links -Overland tuning - medium level -Power front leather seats and steering wheel from 06 Sequoia -fully de-chromed/blacked out trim -all light housings incl 3rd brake light and tag lights replaced with smoked lenses, LED where appropriate -mini projector headlights -fully rebuilt trans and new torque converter -new complete drive shaft with spicer u-joints and carrier bearing -all LED interior lights including backlighting -new lower window seals for all 4 doors -all new hardware and clips for tailgate Next: Dirty Deeds racing exhaust with LT headers, yellow box, 12 hole DD fuel injectors, redo or replace door panels
    For sometime I thought I had a little rattle in the drivers door, but when I started troubleshooting yesterday, I realized it is in the mirror where it hinges, and also a little on the passenger side as well.

    Already watched a YouTube on removing the mirror, but thought I would check here first to see if it’s something that needs to be tightened or if I need to buy parts before I remove them

    Since it is on both of my mirrors, I assume it is a common issue only older models

    Most on here that have had this issue, myself included, found that the 3 torx screws on bottom of mirror in the hinging area you mentioned, needed to be tightened. If I'm not mistaken it was a T20 torx bit that I used. The other issue that has been mentioned in the past, is the 3-10mm nuts attaching the mirror were fund semi loose. You access them by removing the twitter sail cover.

    thanks that’s what I suspected that it was not uncommon,

    so it sounds like I can fix it by tightening things and will add that to my long list for the next few days

    I had the same problem, still do actually, tries to tighten them up and they were already tight. I haven't opened up the tweeter though. Might check that out

    I also had shaky mirror syndrome on mine when I bought it. I tried tightening the Torque bolts and it made no difference. Then I came across somebody somewhere that recommended adding a small washer to each torque bolt and re-tighten. Apparently the Torque bolts were bottoming out. Since adding the small washers, mine have not had an issue with shaking again in over a year (and 20k miles).

    Issue, resolved. I was working on several projects on the front driver and passenger doors so was waiting to do it all at the same time

    in both cases it was the torque screw on the bottom that was closest to the door so I could not get to it without taking it off.
