    Newbie question here:
My 1st Gen will need a new rear bumper before it'll pass inspection (no open rust holes allowed in Vermont inspections). Local mechanics can't find any.

Any advice for where to find part. Also, I'm not sure of the name of the part. It's the metal brace underneath the chrome.

    TIA

The chrome part is like a veneer, a pretty piece. The metal part beneath is the crash worthy part. I believe it is called the Bumper reinforcing bar. Have you looked at purchasing a whole new rear bumper? Lots of those for sale. Even the bars are sold on Jungle Mart.

Amazon. Or ebay, there are plenty of cheap aftermarket bumper assemblies available. Your mechanic must not have searched very hard or well.
