Ok hear me out - I hate these button lift gates. There’s unnecessary complexity that just bothers me in a truck. What’s the chance that it can be replaced with a regular, non electric manual handle/latch?

yes it’s illogical to replace something that isn’t broken. But man does it bother me.

Hah, yeah I figured it’s out there. I’ve always hated these buttons. It’s actually one of the reasons I sold my Chevy. The 2019 Silverado’s power lift gate was an abomination. The moment you haul anything in the bed, it refuses to latch. I had it replaced under warranty 5 times, insane.

To be fair to Tundra, this one is simpler and worlds better. Just completely unnecessary. I’d take a manual latch over a button any day. But this is what all full sized trucks come with now.

Does the base trim have a manual handle? Or do they all come with a button?

Yea I think you’re gonna be SOL then. You would have to design the whole mechanism and build it. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be hard to come up with something primitive looking.
