So I have paint damage on the roof of my truck, og paint but sun damage a a clear defect have pushed it past the point of repair, I have compressor for painting but need a paint gun. Paint is 202 black OEM and there's like 3 tiny spot where chips are at bare metal and there's a tiny amount of rust. Can anyone help me out in terms of the process I will have to go through to repaint my roof. I know how to sand and have the equipment but i am not too sure on the painting process.

Following, same situation for me. I'll be tackling it by the end of summer. I know it needs to be sanded down to bare metal before primer/color/clear. I'm questioning how much paint is needed, if 32oz is enough for just the roof.

I'm lifted 7", so you can barely see the roof. Quality of the job doesn't matter to me very much. Keep in mind it might be difficult to put a good match on the existing paint... its a risk.

Good luck, I'll be paying attention.

Lots of vids out on youtube about DIY roof and hood repaints that would be of value.

I go up on the sidesteps to analyze my roof and realize my hood has pin holes all over it which is how my roof originally was, I can also see the crack taking form. I am now looking into new paint colors such as Cement Grey. I want to stay away from single stage toyota paint. I've taken care of this paint over the years and it still ended up cracking after 8 years of good ownership. If anybody has recommendations I'm all ears. I have to figure out whether I want to pickup this project or if I can find a good deal with a local shop. New wheels are gloss titanium MR just to get an idea.

Didn't miss any of it, I am the odd one in a generation of nerds raised by a Van halen lover who's first car was 1966 GTO he rebuilt with his brother and swapped a 440 into

Not bad at all, will probably stick to 202 because I think it looks sexy on the truck Only thing I will do is add a real quality clearcoat which I hate that TOYOTA failed to do. They cheaped out on some mixed finish to save money and I pay the price years later. Next time I'll pay attention to the paint procedures before buying a Toyota

I noticed that both of my Barcelonas have that orange peel effect on the sides.

I'm gonna stick to OG color, will just be painting the headlight plates with the base and a better quality clearcoat. then I will move to a spare hood and fender that have no dents, been taking my time with the surface prep
