what is the best way to remove the factory clear protective bra from the hood? I started peeling it but it just breaks apart. I tried spraying goo gone on it and still it doesn’t do much. Anyone have a better method? Maybe heat gun or something similar? I added some pictures of what mine is currently doing and what it looks like.

My film guy uses a steamer. There is minimal glue residue left on the surface after he lifts the film.

I assume the film has a life span and that’s why it’s falling apart during removal. Similar toa wrap probably 5 years. Good luck, the steamer sounds like a good idea.

I used a hair dryer on my decals to remove them. Worked great but I did this just a few months after I purchased.

Steamer, hair dryer or heat gun. I use wd40 for the adhesive and it works amazingly well.

I’ll try the heat gun and goo gone later and let you guys know how it goes. Do people usually re-install a new one? I understand the purpose but man, this is probably going to suck to get off..

Mine was factory installed and the adhesive turned yellow in about 2 years (vehicle garage kept), mine just peeled off with no residue. I did not replace it. Considering I have a white truck, the yellowing was very noticeable, other colors will be better candidates.

Yeah, I could see that is sort of has a different color to it once the light hits it. I’m sure if mine was white it would be the same way. I didn’t get a chance to mess with it today but if the heat gun doesn’t work I will definitely try a steam gun. And the same with the goo gone, if that doesn’t work I will try the WD40.

My '07 has them on the bed sides in front of the tires. I'm sure they are there to stop the paint from being damaged from rocks and sand. The problem is the edges now have black stuff under them. Sooner or later I'll remove them so let us know what you try and how it works out. If you use a heat gun I would be a little careful not to get the paint too hot. You may want to look into a commercial product. They do make a fake wood grain sticker remover, which is what I was going to try.
