I need to remove the throttle body to clean it properly on my 2000 tundra. Any advice, pictures, or videos would be greatly appreciated.

Do you think it's unwise to remove it to clean it?

Its a lot of stuff to remove when you could just take out the front bolts and slide the body forward a bit. You do need to disconnect the air intake and push that to the side so the throttle body can be leaned forward. Use rags to catch the drippings. You will have to climb up into engine to clean the inside of the plate. Use a tooth brush and Throttle Body Cleaner. Tighten up your throttle cable tension once everything is hooked back up (mine needed it due to years of never being done).

You’ll notice better throttle response and a peppy feel. Idling should improve to a more steadier 750rpm.

My tundra has 170,000 miles and idles very low when the engine is warm to the point of stalling sometimes. You've been very helpful and I appreciate it. I'll try it your way and I'll let you know how it goes. It may be a couple of weeks before I'm able to do it but I will let you know. Other than the low idle, it runs fine.

Sure thing buddy. Your PCV valve could be clogged as well. I did my valve cover gaskets and PCV valve simultaneously. You can go to ‘What have You Done to Your Tundra’ link on this site. I posted pics on page 30? Anyway, there are plenty Youtube vids on PCV valves replacements. The grommet on mine was dry rotted and that should be replaced as well. Might crack and fall apart on you so be careful.

The PCV line connects back up into the front on the throttle body and plays a role in the idling situation. Its fairly easy DIY stuff. My 2002 is purring these days.

Unbelievable!!!!! Just finished. Started it up and it idled at 1300. Turned it off and restarted. Idling at 1100. It's acting like it's at a race track. Lol. I greatly appreciate your help.

Give it about 100 miles and it should settle.

Mine idles from a cold start at 1000-1100. Once warm drops to 750. These are when in ‘p’ark.

When shifting into ‘d’rive with foot on brake idles at 500. These are consistent readings. Prior to cleaning my throttle body the tac needle would fluctuate. Now its steady eddy.

Glad you got it. Now do some more to get things in prime shape!
