My subscription expired to remote start about half a year ago, but starting the truck with the physical remote still worked using the 3 click and hold method. Recently got a new phone and was re installing the TOYOTA App. After glancing over the terms and conditions I did not agree to any of them. Within a few minutes got an email from AT&T that they are canceling my Cars WiFi (even tho i haven’t been paying for it) and also now my remote start with the key fob doesn’t work anymore. I guess we are in the age where your data is worth more than gold to corporations. Even cutting you off from starting your vehicle just cause you don’t want to share info about it. I’m sure it’s not just Toyota. GMCs death grip on your data is even scarier.

Weird. I haven’t paid for the remote connect in either of mine since they expired a year ago and the fob still starts them.

Once you agree to the terms it stays in “agreement” regardless of your subscription is active or expired. Bet you if you decline all the data gathering clauses the fob remote start will stop working

Yes. Everything else also involves data collection
Why do they need my data for me to start my car when I’m 10 feet away from it

Based on another thread, and what you're describing, it's because the remote start is likely being sent as an MQTT message. Completely different mechanism than RF remote starts of old.

Been about 1.5yrs and it's been flawless. I have the long range 2 way remote version. No complaints, truck doesn't shut off when I rs and open the door.

Was it difficult to install? Description seems to make it possibly difficult for some inexperienced with wires

very easy. One wire does get cut and you tap into another. Rest is plug and play. No need to send off the module, I was given a login to download the programming and get it going...took 5 mins. Hardest part was running the antenna wire nice and tucked away. 2hr job for a rookie....30mins-1hr for a shop

Hello. Please tell me, does the truck work for 10 minutes and then turn off, or does it work as long as you like after remote start? Or does it just not turn off when you open the door, and everything else is unchanged? Thank you.

I'm not sure if the truck will keep running for a set time, I'd have to verify

Ah, the days of -40 and needing Command start and timer activated block heaters and interior heaters in Gillam,MB.
    I really don’t miss them.
Winters in Oregon are so much better.
Don’t have to shovel rain. ;)

I don’t know how long it will run as I don’t have/need an additional one as described in this thread.
Only just tried the factory remote key fob start sequence a couple of weeks ago after almost 2 years of ownership just to see if it worked (it did).
I was just responding due to your location. :)

I'm very interested in this remote start. Their website only has one review for our model truck, which is a bit disappointing, however it appears you have had a good experience? The website says you have to send in a module from your truck, however that was not what was recently stated on this site for a complete install. Are they just bad about updating their website?

After your free year, $15 a month.
This is for the Toyota remote start app.

That kit is $475 not installed (for the version that works with your phone). Equivalent to 2 1/2 years subscription.

I think I'll just keep it simple and will become a subscriber.

Hey eddie, you mentioned in a previous post about this unit that there's an antenna that comes with the kit. How/where did you end up running the antenna and wire? Looking into getting this kit for the truck since its 24% off for black friday

There's an antenna like most aftermarket alarms. I ran it up the A-pillar to the top left corner of the windshield.
