I have a new to me 2020 SR5 (blade key) and I want to add remote start. Will either the OEM or the Start-X allow the truck to keep running when I open the door and Insert the key?

If they both do this which one has the better features/range? Thanks!

The OEM will not. The start x will. I have it on my truck and it stays running when you open the door. Also you can upgrade your kit to allow it to work with an app which increases range tremendously.

My OEM '21 remote start stopped working after the 2-3 year free trial ended

    Was that your experience?

I never had the OEM so I just went straight to the aftermarket one.

You must have a key start, because StartX says it won't with push-to-start.

I put in the Start X and I love it. The range is also very good!!! I was inside the gym truck was about 300’ away through two sets of glass doors and she started. $179 well spent

Thank you Dan! I took my time to get a decent splice ( about 1.5hrs) and it works great once you get the right 'cadence '.

Do you have a different model of Start X? Their website says-
Please note: The vehicle will shut down when the door is opened. This is a security feature and there is no way around it.

My truck came with a Compustar system from previous owner.
Perfectly happy with it and truck keeps running when you open door.

I have the key blade starter (no push button) and there is 1 wire that you splice into the harness that allows the truck to stay running when you open the door. The key just needs to be inserted BEFORE you put your foot on the brake......or you get to start the truck again.

The only limitation with the Start-X is the range of the factory remote. The other after market starters will probably have better range if they come with their own remote.

Yeah the keyed version does not shut off when you open the door. I also bought the car link remote start cellular interface that allows you to use an app and start it from anywhere which is awesome. I can even start it from my watch

Same here. But i have the compustar unit with dronemobile app. Works great on both ios and android. I have PTS and it does not shut off when driver's door is open. You gotta program it using a pc and weblink software, free from idatalink.
