I have a 21 platinum with push button start. I use the remote start on my key fob pretty much every work day and 98 percent of the time there are no issues. However everyonce in a while the truck doesnt recognize that i have either unlocked the door via the door handle or key fob, so the engine doest turn off. Now at this point if i try to put the truck into drive/reverse or turn it off and turn it on again the immobilizer kicks on and i cant turn on the engine for 10 to 15 minutes. Is there a way to get the truck to start faster than 10 minutes?

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
That is a big problem, I'd head to the Dealer and hope they can recreate it.

We have a 2021 Sequoia and are having the same problem… it’s so frustrating, we have considered trading it. Gfgneo, or anyone else, have you found a remedy? Your response will be appreciated, and will save more frustration and money. Thank you.

Unfortunately i have not. I have noticed generally when it happens is when i have difficulty using the key fob remote start so if it doesnt start on the second try i dont attempt it. So far this has worked for me and i havent had an issue. I also use the key fob to unlock the car(whlie locking the front door since i have the house keys on it ) that way i know if the engine will turn off b4 i open the door. Supposedly the engine is supposed to turn off on its own after five minutes so in theory if i press the unlock button on the key fob and the engine doesnt shut off its better to let it run for 5 min than have the engine kill switch be engaged and ur stuck waiting for 15min. (Assuming the engine does turn off automatically at five minutes like its supposed to). I havent tried this yet since i havent had this issue in a long time.

Thank you so much for your quick response! Ours too is a platinum edition (not sure if that is a common thread). Ours started at least 6 months ago. We had the battery replaced (It was towed to the dealer.) and replaced the batteries in the key FOBs. We have also noticed that ours sometimes (not always) may have been related to using the second FOB during a prior drive/access. Finally, we are trying to determine if unlocking using touch (vs key FOB, as you noted above) contributes to the issues. Thanks again. I hope to try to talk to the dealer within a couple weeks, but will post an update as soon as possible.

Ur welcome, in my experience its all random. Ive had the issue with unlocking with both the key fob and the door handle. The advantage of using the key fob is you dont accidentally open the door triggering the engine lock. And at that point try and wait the five minutes for the engine to shut itself off.(i havent tried that yet to see if it works) but so far just avoiding trying to remote start when it doesnt turn on right away has worked and i use my remote start everyday when i go to work.

I talked with the dealer (and they are really trying to help - I sent them this thread since it has a lot of information on the problem.) They investigated the problem with their technician network, and found others are reporting similar issues. They have requested I bring it in to have the ECU reset. This will take a couple hours, but appears to have fixed other people issues…. Therefore, as soon as possible, I will be scheduling an appointment to have the ECU reset…

I got my Tundra in Nov21 and didn't have any issues until my wife went to drive it for a couple days while her Yukon was in the shop last month. She remote started the car before leaving, went through the passenger door by placing her hand behind the handle to unlock the doors and put her purse and that on the seat. The truck didn't turn off, which she is used to because her Yukon doesn't turn off when unlocking and opening doors. So she got in and pressed the button, not realizing something wasn't right, and the truck turned off and would not start again. She called me while I was at work and she explained what happened, I asked her to try starting it and of course it wouldn't so I had her get out of the car and lock the doors with the key fob, then unlock with the key fob and then try starting the car and she was able to get it started without any further issues. I don't know how much time had passed between the truck disabling itself and then starting but by her starting over it seemed to reset whatever went wrong.
