I bought a beater 2005 tundra for my sons first vehicle. it did not come with an original remote but there was an aftermarket remote that did work. I decided to get another remote and program it as well so that we would have two working sets of keys and remotes. I went online and got programming instructions that included a series of opening and opening the door, etc. and tried to program remote. I could not get it to program and now neither remote works. I took it to a local batteries + bulbs shop and they could not get either to program. any thoughts out there.

Stealership fix. Or, since its the sons ‘beater’ make him use the old fashioned key until he can buy his own vehicle.

Does he know how to use the internet?

of course, he is a teenager. I have done some research on programming remotes for this vehicle but nothing out there addresses problems when vehicle will enter programming mode but remotes just wont program. I now have four of these generic remotes with one original Toyota remote and none will work. ruled out a remote problem.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but cut your losses and just have a Viper 3105V
installed at a local car audio shop. For $250 out the door, you will have two working
remotes and a basic car alarm.

I had the same issue when I bought my 2005 Tundra a few years ago. I tried EVERYTHING to get the non-factory remotes I bought off ebay to work. I finally took it to the dealer, gave them the remotes I bought and asked them to program them. I think they charged me $25 and they worked great the entire time I had the truck.
