    Hello to all,

My brother has a 2023 Hybrid Highlander. He stated that when he initiates the remote car start feature, that the second he opens his door, the engines turns off. I seem to recall that when a dealer rep did my truck, i opened the door and the truck engine keep going. Did i remember that incorrectly?

Mine cuts off when I open the door. I believe it is a safety feature.

They do not want you to accidentally get in and start driving it!

But they need a few more safety features because I forgot to put it in park yesterday and got out then I tried to lock it and it wouldn’t because I forgot to turn it off.

Key fob should work for remote start unless you disabled all the data tracking Toyota does

I believe the key fob should always work regardless of subscription or data tracking. Mine is super finicky. Not much for range and the three clicks of the button have to be precisely timed. Sometimes it takes a few tries. Very frustrating.

There are a few of us including myself where the FOB does not work after the subscription ends. I went aftermarket to solve the problem.

I just went outside and tried remote start again with both key fobs nothing. I’m gonna call the dealer and see if they know anything if not it’ll be after market.

Which for the life of me I don’t understand. In my LC, after remote starting, I open the door, engine remains on. Depress the brake, push the stop/start button, and away you go. I would love to know the reasoning as to why Toyota can’t do this with the Tundra. That and I can adjust climate settings with the app, as well as other functions I didn’t have with my Tundra.

I have a 22 Tundra Limited and my remote start FOB still works, even though the Remote Connect Trial subscription has lapsed. I refuse to purchase any of the Bundled services when all I want is the Remote Connect for the App. From what I have read and understand, as long as you have ANY of the subscriptions active (Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote Connect, Drive Connect...) the FOB will still work. I somehow have a 10 year Trial for both Safety Connect and Service Connect, so my FOB will still remote start even though I can't remote start from the App.

I never activated any of the Connected Services, even for the free trial period, and both my FOBs remote start works. But, as mentioned earlier, it can be finicky.

My one year trial ended today and they turned off my navigation. I’m extremely disappointed. I have owned several Toyotas with navigation that never required a subscription. The display on the dash won’t even show the direction of travel on the compass. 70k and no navigation

My 24 limited shuts off when opening door, it's ridiculous. My wife's Lexus RX350 keeps running when opening door. I guess Tundra owners aren't grown up enough...

Yeah Raven, those Lexi owners are so much more sophisticated...I'm fine w opening a hot car and starting upon entry.

And slowbuilt, that sux that your navigation is inoperable. You can pay ca$h for a car and a year later have to rent add'l features. They've followed the software companies model and always owing sonething no matter if you outright purchase everything. Pitiful.

Do you have the digital dash? If so, the compass should still be there on the left side. Just scroll through the different displays to find it. I let my subscription lapse too and I still have the compass.

I believe it wasn’t indicating because I was navigating a route on my google maps via CarPlay. It did show later when I wasn’t.

I thought it was this thread where someone stated you had to have the lights flash each time you click, which is what I had always tried to do, but I did not see the comment. I discovered that is not the case and it is just three clicks and hold on the last. I don't know Spanish but saying "uno, dos, tres" seems to time it right for me.

Also, recently I started getting the "key fob battery low" warning and I have noticed the range has gotten worse. I used to be able to start it from our bedroom window but now I have to be in the living room. Purely a guess but I would say probably 25 feet reduced to 15. I tried with my 2nd fob that has not been used much, that battery still shows green on the app, and it worked from the bedroom/25ft.
