i had someone tell me that no matter where you purchased your vehicle you still have to pay sales tax again when you register it in Georgia for the first time.

This sounds like total BS to me, so how would I find the truth without drawing any attention to my CO plates?

Typically thats the case. I bought my tundra in DE but live in PA however because of how close i am to DE they collected the pa tax and sent that in. However.....

If right now i decided to leave pa and go back to va i would have to pay the sales tax again this time to va because its been less than a year plus registration plus property taxes etc. Some states like md dont care and hit you for that regardless of how long its been registered elsewhere.

I know it doesnt pertain to GA but you can see the registrational assphuckery that takes place.
