Hello, I wanted to post the solution to the below problem (could not add fuel, pump would shut off). As I suspected after reading different posts here and elsewhere, I figured there was an issue with the charcoal canister, a $945+ part ($1800+ at Autozone). Covered under my extended warranty but to let you know. It was saturated and not working, per the dealer. I don’t do this but DO NOT TOP OFF when refueling. This can be a cause, the vent tube being plugged can be a cause as well. Hope this helps someone. Thanks.

    (Original post “Gas filling problem”)
    Good morning all,

I have this problem, started yesterday. Whiletrying to fill up before I drive 225 home. Can’t fill up, and went to 3 different stations. I finally jammed it in and held it tight and itworked for a few seconds and then gas poured back out. Can’t see any blockage. I saw another post but it was May 2018 and not sure I’ll get a response. Have a 2016Platinum, scheduled service tomorrow since no appointments open today and missing 2 days of work. But since I see others have hadthis happen, looking for an answer or whatyour outcome was. Thanks for any help.

Friend had a similar issue, albeit with a Lexus, because the canister was filled by “topping” the tank during refills. It was his habit. Mine as well from the old days. Since then I let the pump decide on all my vehicles. It’s a pricy fix!

Yes it is! The bill was over $1,000, so after 6 months my extended warranty is already paying off.

I had the same OCD problem. Dropped the habit when I bought my Tundra in October.
