Not perfect, but cool truck anyway. Already changed the oil and battery. LBS's and ITRs were loose upon inspection. Squeaky too! I recently picked it up with 149K. Just got my OEM LBJs and some Sankei 555 ITRs, said screw it and ordered the matching OEM UBJs and Sankei 555 OTREs. Didn't notice any play in the control arm bushings. How do those hold up?

I already cleaned up the front bumper and am about to prep to make it black again.

    code 1241.jpg

    Things to do:
    1. Front brakes.
    2. Seems like crack(s) in manifold(s) - Ticks at cold start then stops after a minute. Will look into more.
    3. Maybe install the new Flowmaster 50 that came with it...not sure.
    4. Do a raidiator flush or just replace it and some new hoses.
    5. Do a tranny flush.
    6. Get the AC blowing cold again!
    7. Get rid of the cold air intake and get a factory one (need to find a cheap used one).
    8. Chase the C1241 code down....grrrrr!
Any tips or whatever are appreciated.

Good find. How does the undercarriage look? Lower control arm bushings last a long time but can wear from lifting without relieving the tension. Factory ones are kind of spring loaded.

OME Nitrocharger/2612 (front), Bilstein 5100s (rear). Vanguard roll bar modified (by me) to fit over Patriot Stealth retractable tonneau. Aftermarket halo headlights with HID, various LED bulb replacements. 17" Fuel Blitz wheels with some 33" Nitto terra grapplers. Hoodscoop, nfab nerfbars, Bushwacker flares. No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
Welcome from SoCal. Cool truck. I'd check in with the first gen people, but I think they recommend a timing belt at that mileage if the prev. owner didn't do it.

Take a look at toyota.com/owners and make an account and put in your vin and you can see anything that a dealership has done to the truck in the past. Defentently want to check timing belt for cracks if no record of being done.

As for item 5 on your list. May just want to do a drain and fill on the trans not a flush. Could cause issues.
Definitely good call on ball joints.

May get lucky enough to just clear those abs codes. Those could have come from a dead battery.

Welcome aboard. That's a nice looking truck and it sounds like you've got the right plan to start off.

Shorty headers (to fix the tick) and the flowmaster 50 will sound gooooood. Not obnoxious either with the 50, just that nice deep burble at idle and some good full throttle noises, but pretty chill at normal throttle and cruising around.

What shorty headers do you suggest? On a "wife don't kill me" budget.

Long tube $$$ and more exhaust shop work. Shorty's by JBA are probably the most popular. Flowtech makes some that are a little less coin. Doug Thorley used to make some too. Factory manifolds run $150-400 per side. Headers are around 4-600 for both, so comparable cost.

I used to own a sign/wrap shop. When I got out of that, I did keep some equipment and do cut some vinyl from time to time. I can also custom design and do branding at a Jedi level, but always get paid for my time.
