Hey, y'all. Happy to be here.

Been a RAM guy for over a decade. I've owned three of them, but my 2018 Lone Star reached 96k miles, I started hearing some knocking in the suspension, and I hadn't been able to use my touch screen for over two years due to delamination - a problem experienced by many RAM owners that had the 8.1" UConnect touch screen.

I had installed a 2/1 Traxda leveling kit on it and upgraded my tires to Nitto Ridgegrapplers. RAMs aren't known for being the easiest to modify safely, so I never really got into RAM mods as much.

Why put all that time and energy into a truck that won't hold its value?

I felt it was time to trade up.

In March 2023, I broke even on my RAM and purchased a 2021 Tundra 4x4 with the TSS Off-Road package. It's the first used truck I've ever bought, but it had less than 12k miles on it, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Long story short, I have no idea what the heck took me so long to convert from RAM to Tundra. The Tundra seems infinitely more straightforward to modify than my previous RAMs, and it's the most fun I've ever had driving a truck.

My wife has a 2018 4Runner, and I never understood why she was so in love with it. After all, many of her interior features just seemed basic and dated.

After driving my Tundra for about a month, I now know why.

I've already made a few simple mods to my truck.
    • Rough Country 2.5-3/1 Level
    • LED Interior Lighting
    • Blacked-out American flag badging
As the mods progress, I'll post updates.

Looking forward to learning more, doing more, and sharing more.

Same here. Sold my Cummins recently and picked up a 2020 Tundra. Couldn't be happier. You will love the truck the more you drive it. Good luck with it.

Welcome and enjoy owning something that won’t nickel and dime you every year.

Ram is a simple crapshoot / and sooner or later your it’s gonna crap out on you. Tundras while less flashy will run forever (or at least until they rust out underneath you).

It is funny though - as much as I hate current Rams - I still long to find a 1983-1984 D100 - absolutely the greatest Dodge I ever owned (and one of my first cars when I was less protective of my vehicles than I am now) - basic as they came - even for the time - AM only radio even - but absolutely most reliable truck I ever owned.

Yep, although my experience was the opposite. Prior to buying her 4Runner, when she was considering them, I told her "You're not just buying a 4Runner. You're about to join a worldwide community." I told her she'd want to modify it. She semi-scoffed at the idea.

Then she bought it...and about a week later she gave me this real soft hug; I've learned what that specific hug means from her. I told her "This is the 'You were right' hug." She told me "I love my 4Runner...and can we buy this and that?" She found a female 4Runner group on Facebook and she's got the mod bug.

I will never buy a Ram again. It was a great truck and my dealer was very good to deal with. But through two engine failures and expensive parts failing, FCA was miserable to deal with despite the fact that they knew that there was a problem with this engine (3.0 diesel) and the vehicle was under warranty. Their reasons were foolish - like denying warranty because I bought the parts outside of Canada and they could not see where I paid tax, so I could not be reimbursed. Twice I had to threaten legal action, and actually served them with process once. Only then did they come around. Never again.

I had that VM Motori 3.0L Diesel motor in a 2015 jeep grand cherokee Summit. I know its the EPA going after deisels causing the most issues but it was in the shop 9 times over 7500 miles, undrivable. Some of it was bad mechanics. They didnt want to cover parts they broke taking off to fix other things. I couldnt afford to take so much time off work to drop it off and pick it up every other week.

Welcome to the forum @jamesonellistx and enjoy your tundra!

Welcome from oregon! Glad to hear you got out of Dodge!

Now you have a reliable truck you'll never need to work on... but it's so easy to work on you won't be able to help yourself

    Sorry...

But on the plus side, there are the most flat out reliable, never let you down trucks you could ever hope for.

There's a good reason I've had a Tercel, 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and just got another Tundra.

I very briefly thought about going RAM 3/4T just for increased payload, but couldn't see going to an unknown when I've had such good luck with all my Toyotas.
