I am installing a rearview camera. I want to access the cab through the floor on the driver's side where the molding is. There are holes with grommets on the exterior of the cab but are blocked. I thought I could access underneath, so I drilled a pilot hole from the inside, but that is blocked also. i am wondering if I drill a hole from the exterior underneath I would be able to run the wire into the cab. I do not want to go through the firewall because the camera is coming from the rear bumper. Here are some pics. One showing the inside where the molding is and the other underneath the truck those black circles on either side of the step are the grommets.

    Too many, but not enough....
I think doing some wire extension and just going through the firewall would be easier. Any reason you are opposed to that route? i think most people would try to avoid drilling holes as much as possible lol.

If I can go this route it seems simpler and cleaner.

I didn't use it to wire a camera but, I found one that went all the way through on my 2012. Not sure if the gromets have changed locations or not. When I popped the gromet out of the bottom of the truck I could see the ground through the hole in the cab.

I noticed that also on my truck. Maybe that is the answer. You have the same grommets as I do. Any idea what those are for?

I've thought about it a few times, best I can come up with is so the cab can drain water but that only kinda makes sense so I really have no idea.

Can you provide a few more details on the rear camera? Are you ditching the factory one or removing the tailgate?
I’m just wondering if you made up a harness that plugged under the bumper with an OEM camera at the other end you could place it wherever and customize the length of wire.
Then just a simple plug/unplug if needed.

The factory one is fine. Just want something to record my 6 when I drive down the road. I have a front and rearview camera set up. The front one was easy. The rearview plugs into the front view camera and DVR assembly with a special jack.

APalmTree That worked. I had to drill out the top hole a little because of the permanent connector to the camera. Thanks alot.
